Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 245

Once certain pursuits were initiated, they demanded absolute commitment.

If Rebecca's earlier approach to rehabilitation had been somewhat casual, now she pursued it with the resolute aim of returning to the stage.

It was no longer a question of accepting any outcome that might arise. Rather, she was firmly determined to reclaim her rightful place.

With her objective crystallized, her overall state elevated to a pinnacle of tenacity and resolve.

Her daily life revolved around video calls with Josette, supporting the troupe's logistical needs, and seizing every available moment for her rehab exercises.

This full, busy life let her completely tune out everything back in Soliaridge.

That day signified the troupe's conclusion of performances in France and their transition to Germany.

Rebecca rose quietly at five in the morning. This had become her established routine—awakening one or two hours before the others, which allowed her to complete her rehab session early.

During the day, she needed to take care of the wardrobe, makeup, and set preparations.

At six o'clock, Desmond arrived to see her already immersed in her exercises. He chuckled, "You're starting earlier each day. Makes me feel like I'm constantly oversleeping."

"Not at all. Since we're relocating to a new hotel today, everyone is likely to rise early, so I began even sooner," she explained.

He volunteered every day to serve as her spotter during rehab, claiming it doubled as his own training time, but she knew his presence was intentional, aimed at providing her with necessary support.

Desmond, Lauren, and Helia rotated shifts to accompany her each morning and evening without fail.

Vance had arrived to pick her up, his eyes brimming with guilt. It turned out he had known all along that she couldn't dance anymore, but he hadn't dared to tell her.

She couldn't recall how she had summoned the strength to prevent her world from collapsing and reassure him that even without dancing, she still had countless other avenues. Then she had proceeded to celebrate his birthday with cheer.

That was probably why he gave gifts to Josette and her on his birthday.

He felt forever indebted to her, but he couldn't repay her with love because he didn't love her. He could only do it with money—lots of it.

Scrolling through the album, she sighed under her breath. Over these five years, her photo collection had been dominated by him.

There were photos of Vance's, Rebecca's, and Josette's birthdays as well as various holidays and anniversaries. There was also Vance asleep or at work, taken from the front, the side, and the back.
