Catherine struggled to lift Vance, who seemed to gain inexplicable weight when he was drunk.

She had barely managed to prop him up when he went limp again, collapsing back down.

“Let me help…” Aiden, mildly inebriated, draped Vance’s arm over his neck and managed to escort him

out of the restaurant.

The restaurant was not far from Catherine’s home, so he delivered Vance straight there.

“Vance is in your hands now.” Aiden winked. “Take good care of him. I won’t intrude on your time together.”

“That’s nonsense. Get going.” Catherine shot him a coquettish glare, closing the door.

Vance lay sprawled on the sofa, his shirt now further unbuttoned from the journey. The lean contours of his muscles were revealed.

“Vance?” Catherine called out, approaching.

He furrowed his brows, appearing to rouse slightly.

“We’re home now. How about a shower before bed?” she whispered, moving to undo the remaining

buttons on his shirt.

He stirred awake, croaking, “Who is it?”

“It’s me, Catherine,” she replied. “Today is your birthday, remember? We just celebrated it together, singing songs and reminiscing about our old times.”

He opened his eyes, straining to focus on the figure before him. “Cathy?”

“Yes. You’re drunk, and we…”

“Drunk? Birthday?” He shook his head.

“Yes, it’s your birthday,” she replied, finally unfastening all the buttons on his shirt.

Her hand reached toward his belt, just grazing it. He suddenly stood up, swaying unsteadily as he headed out.

“Vance, where are you going?” Catherine hurried after him, clutching his arm.

He shook her off. “Birthday… Josette’s house… dinner…”

Catherine’s expression darkened with rage. “Rebecca has already discarded you, and you’re still hung up

on that woman?”

As if he hadn’t registered her words, he kept muttering to himself, “Josette is waiting. Waiting for us.”

Swaying precariously, he managed to open the door and stumble out.

“Vance!” Catherine chased after him, attempting another grab, but he shook her off again..

In her slippers, she nearly tumbled to the ground. As he entered the elevator, she clenched her teeth. That damn old hag! Why won’t she just drop dead already? Infuriating!”

Her eyes swiveled as an idea struck her. Meanwhile, Vance propped himself against the elevator wall and pressed the button for the first floor.

The doors opened, and a resident entered, noticing the drunk man leaning motionless. “Sir, which floor are you heading to? We’re on the first floor now.”

Vance jolted awake, thanked him, and stepped out.

The security guard recognized him. He had accompanied Catherine to purchase the property and had visited more than once.

Seeing him emerge in such a drunken state, the guard asked. “Sir, are you heading home?”

“Home…” Vance paused, his mind foggy, before retrieving his phone from his pocket. “Could you call a

ride for me?”

He entered the destination: Syliaview. Once done, he told the guard, “I’m going to Grandma’s for dinner.”
