Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 260

Chapter 260

As soon as Nancy saw Vance, her tears began to flow uncontrollably,

Vance looked around the room, unsure of what was happening. “Cathy? What are you doing here?”

Catherine quickly pulled her feet back from the coffee table, then called out with a sweet, whiny voice, It’s been so many days since I last saw you. I’ve missed you so much. Everyone’s been missing you. You’ve been ignoring me, so I had to come see you myself.”

She flung her arms wide and rushed toward him like a bird.

Vance watched her with a gentle smile. “Didn’t I tell you? I’ve been busy with certain things lately.”

“You’ve just forgotten about us!” She pouted and acted playfully, then noticed the large bags of clothes he was holding. “Wow, so many clothes!”

Vance nodded, walking into the room and setting the bags down. Nancy quietly slipped out, and the sound made him pause.

He called out, “Nancy?”

Catherine pulled him back. “It’s just a servant. She can leave if she wants. That’s just rude. Remember, you’re the master here.”

Vance shook his head. “It’s not like the old times. Nancy is just someone I hired.”

“Well, you pay her to serve you, so she’s a servant,” she said, rummaging through the clothes.

Vance dialed Nancy’s number.

“Sir,” Nancy answered, on her way to the hospital.

“Nancy, where are you going? Why did you leave without a word?” he asked.

Catherine paused, perking up her ears.

Nancy’s voice cracked. “Sir, I had planned to tell you tomorrow, but since you’re asking… Your health has improved, so Cecilia and I are leaving today. Thank you and Mrs. Bradford for everything these past five

years.”

Vance was confused. “But we agreed you’d continue working. Why are you leaving so suddenly?”

Nancy couldn’t hold back her tears. “I’ve saved a little money. After much thought, I’ve decided not to continue as a housekeeper. I want to open a small shop and do a little business of my own.”

“I see.” Vance nodded. “It’s just sudden.”

People had their own aspirations, and he wasn’t the type to force anyone. If Nancy had a better plan for her life, he’d support her decision.

“Actually, I had planned to leave earlier, Sir. I just waited until you were better. I didn’t want to leave you without help while you were unwell.”

“Well, alright then,” Vance sighed. “If you ever need any help with your business, don’t hesitate to reach out.”

“Thank you, sir,” Nancy replied. “But I’ll be running a small business. It won’t compare to yours.”

She glanced at Cecilia, who was clinging to her, clearly full of questions. Afraid that she couldn’t stifle a cry, she quickly ended the call.

Cecilia looked at her with confusion. “Mom, why didn’t you tell him that woman burned me?”

Nancy hesitated, wanting to explain but holding back. Even Rebecca couldn’t stand up to Catherine, let alone the two of them. At most, Vance would settle it by giving them some money. 1

But she didn’t want to burden Cecilia with such a harsh truth. She just pressed a gentle kiss to Cecilia’s forehead. “You’ll understand when you’re older.”
