Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 262

Chapter 262

“Rebecca? Are you kidding me?” Catherine exploded. “What money does she have to buy your clothes? Do you even know who’s behind her? It’s Mr. Bradford. Without him, she’s nothing!”

The staff member was unfazed. “Of course, we know she is Mr. Bradford’s wife.”

Catherine held her chin high. “Then why won’t you let him order? Do you know who he is? The youngest and most successful CEO of a publicly listed company in Soliaridge. If he wanted, he could buy this entire studio.”

The staff member nodded politely. “We know.”

“Then why are you acting like this? You don’t want the business?” Catherine’s voice grew louder and more arrogant.

The staff member glanced between the pair. “We know exactly who Mr. Bradford is, and we also know Mrs. Bradford is his wife. But may I know who you are?”

“I…” Catherine’s smug smile froze. Her voice dropped. “I’m his friend.”

The staff member gave a small smile, saying nothing more. The message was clear: no dress for her.

“You said you only do established clients,” Catherine protested. “I’m Mr. Bradford’s friend. That makes me an established client by association, right?”

“Sorry, Miss,” the staff member said firmly. “But we define ‘established client’.”

“You’re just tailors. What’s so great about that?” Catherine barked. “Look, everything in this whole store isn’t even worth…”

Vance intervened, stepping in front of her. “Cathy, let me handle this.”

He turned to the staff member. “Every established client starts as a new one. If an established client brings a friend, that friend becomes established too, doesn’t it?”

“We do accept referrals from established clients,” the staff member replied.

Vance smiled. “Then…”

“I’m sorry,” the staff member said gently but firmly. “If Mrs. Bradford brought a friend, we would accept. But I’m afraid we cannot accept a friend of yours, Mr. Bradford.”

“What the hell?” Catherine ranted. “His reputation doesn’t count as much as hers? Go ask anyone on the street in Soliaridge. They’ve never even heard of Rebecca. You people have it completely backward. She’s just an unemployed housewife. What influence does she have? You’re all blind!”

Just then, a lazy voice drifted down from the spiral staircase. “What’s all the noise about?”

A man dressed in eccentric but obviously high-fashion clothes came down, a stud earring glinting in one ear. His expression was one of pure arrogance.

“That’s Derek Sinclair,” Catherine whispered to Vance. “The studio and the brand are both named after

him.”

The staff member quickly explained what had happened.

“Mr. Bradford?” Derek glanced over and nodded. “I remember. You were just here.”

Vance extended his hand. “Mr. Sinclair, nice to meet you.”

Derek barely glanced at it, heading straight to the coffee machine.

Catherine lost it again. “What kind of attitude is that?”

Vance quickly stopped her from rambling on. He tried to explain, “Mr. Sinclair, we…”

“Mr. Bradford,” Derek cut in, “my attitude is not the problem. If you think it is, that’s your problem. You shouldn’t have walked in here.”

Vance had enjoyed smooth sailing for years and had never been treated like that. Anger flared inside him, but on second thought, Catherine wanted a dress from the store badly.

Swallowing it, he forced a polite smile. “The young lady is a bit impulsive and speaks her mind. Please don’t take it to heart. We’ve long admired your work and sincerely hoped you might design a gown for her.
