Chapter 263
“Young lady? Impulsive?” Derek snorted.
“What’s that supposed to mean? Is there a problem with my age?” Catherine seized on what she thought was a mistake and raised her voice.
Derek’s smile was contemptuous. “Age is a plus in my eyes. Beauty that comes with time is every bit as powerful as youthful freshness. I can make a 90-year-old look elegantly stunning.”
He paused and added, “Mr. Bradford, why don’t you take your ‘young lady’ home? Before I start to get rude.” 1
His tone was already quite impolite, his attitude seriously bruising Vance’s pride.
Catherine tugged at Vance’s sleeve, and he forced himself to keep calm. “Perhaps I phrased it poorly. But whether someone is an established client or new, everyone has a first time, right? Rebecca started as a new client, too.”
“That’s true.” Derek nodded. “We do take new clients, but there is a threshold.”
“What kind?” Undaunted, Catherine stepped out from behind Vance, her chin held high.
She believed money talked in every scenario. And money was the one thing Vance never ran out of.
Derek’s eyes curved with mocking amusement. “Our threshold is very simple: whether we like the look of you.”
He picked up his coffee and laughed all the way back upstairs.
Catherine yelled after him, “What do you mean by that?”
The staff member blocked the spiral staircase. “Dear guests, Mr. Sinclair means every word he said. We don’t like the look of you.”
“What the hell?” Catherine screamed, itching to smash the store.
Vance grabbed her arm and dragged her out.
“Vance!” she protested, then noticed his tight expression. Her voice softened, and she looked pained. ” I’m
sorry for dragging you into this. I never should have asked for that dress.”
He shook his head. “It’s not your fault.”
“I should have ripped into him,” she said tearfully. “I shouldn’t have let you shield me from everything. I should be the one fighting for you.”
His face softened. “You were fierce enough.”
She paused, unsure whether that was a compliment or an insult. She quickly added, “I should have been fiercer. No one is allowed to disrespect you like that.”

“It’s fine. Let’s go. I’ll take you home,” he said, getting into the car.
Catherine didn’t dare push it, unsure how he really felt about the event. On the way home, she kept quiet.
Vance drove her home and had lunch with her before heading back.
When he got home, it was already two in the afternoon. The clothes were still lying on the sofa.
He calculated the time difference. It was morning in Europe, but he had no idea if Rebecca was awake yet. After much thought, he took photos of the clothes and sent them to her.
Vance: [These need to be signed for. They called me to confirm the revisions. How should I reply?]
