Chapter 276
Catherine bowed her head, looking hurt and vulnerable.
Vance stood beside her, his jaw tight. “What are you talking about? Is she wrong? She means well. How can you mock her like this?”
Catherine tugged at his sleeve, looking timid. “Vance, don’t talk like that. She’s just in a bad mood. You need to understand her.”
Vance fell silent, looking daggers at Rebecca.
Catherine chattered on, “Vance, come on. She spends every day with those dancers, but she can’t dance like before. It definitely makes her sad.”
Turning to Rebecca, she continued, “Don’t push yourself too hard. Even if you can’t dance again, Vance won’t mind. But if you got hurt, he’d be worried.”
Her words were sweet, but her face gleamed with smugness. Especially when she said Rebecca couldn’t dance again, her eyes lingered on Rebecca’s leg with unconcealed malice.
Yet Vance, the insufferable fool, would surely think she was simply looking out for Rebecca.
Sure enough, he launched into his familiar lament. “If only you were half as sensible as Cathy, I wouldn’t have had to drop everything at the company and come here.”
“Oh? So, is it inconvenient for you now?” Rebecca retorted. “When you once flew here just for a handmade doll, you didn’t call it inconvenient, did you?”
Memories she wanted to forget resurfaced. She had been trying to avoid them, but they just wouldn’t let
her go.
“1 gave the dolls to you, didn’t I?”
“Did you? I don’t need to verify who it was really for, but I never liked dolls.”
Vance was rendered speechless.
“Do you even know what she likes?” Desmond chimed in, striking a nerve.
Vance shot back, “What has it got to do with you?”
“I know,” Catherine cut in. “I know Rebecca loves dancing.”
That was true. Among all her passions, dance was the one Rebecca cherished most.
Catherine continued, “But you don’t have to torment yourself like this. I know my sudden return pressures you, making you worry I’ll take Vance away. After all, in terms of looks, education, and personality, I am better. And you only know how to dance. But now, even that…”
She sighed, “You want to reclaim the one thing you’re good at, hoping Vance won’t despise you. It’s not

necessary. He’s known from the start that you have nothing else.”
Her implication was clear: “Vance, can’t you see? Rebecca is worthless. I’m better than her in every way.”
Desmond interrupted, “What did you just say? You’re better than Rebecca at everything? What a joke! The only thing you’re better at is playing fake. Vance, is your mind too muddled to see the truth?”
Vance scowled, ready to fight him. Rebecca and Helia quickly separated them.
Finally, Vance’s gaze fell on Rebecca, who looked much thinner. His brow furrowed. “I’ve seen your dance. It’s time to come home with me.”
