Rebecca stared at Vance, feeling a wave of deep exhaustion. It was so intense that she could barely remember what he looked like at 16.

“Vance, just leave,” she said tiredly.

“Come home with me,” he said. “No matter how angry you are, you can’t degrade yourself like this. I know you want to dance, but you can’t anymore.”

Her gaze turned cold, locked firmly on his face.

“Am I wrong?” Vance continued. “The doctor already told you. Desmond is just feeding you false hope. He’s not well-intentioned. Look at how thin you’ve gotten. What if you get hurt again? Don’t push yourself beyond your limits. As I said, you don’t have to do anything. You’ll always be Mrs. Bradford.”

“Shut up!” Desmond yelled.

Vance glanced at him and grabbed Rebecca’s arm. “Alright, no more arguing. You left without a word, and I flew across the world to find you and show my sincerity. That should have eased your anger.” ↑

She stared at the veins bulging from his hand, not struggling. His words were suffocating.

“Vance,” she said evenly, as if speaking to a stranger, “I’ll be honest with you. The ten days I’ve spent away from you have been the happiest time of the last five years.”

His eyes widened, as though something inside them had shattered. She understood that look; he didn’t

believe her.

He could never imagine that the woman who had loved him so humbly and had given up everything for

him, would refuse him now.

She was supposed to beg him to take her back. Without him, how could she survive? But things had

changed.

His grip tightened, and she added, “If only you had a shred of conscience left and were grateful about my rescue, let me go. Whether you want to repay me or take revenge, please, just let me be.”

His hand finally loosened. He stepped back and gaped at her, unable to believe his ears.

Rebecca turned to Desmond and said, “Let’s go.”

Helia had been holding him back the whole time. If he were determined to punch Vance, no one could stop him. However, as Helia had advised, he was to handle it discreetly and not make things harder for Rebecca there.

They quickly flanked her and left without looking back.

Vance remained rooted to the spot. Catherine called out to him, finally bringing him back to reality.

“What is it?” he muttered, starting to head out.

She hesitated. “There’s something I’m not sure if I should say.”

“Go ahead,” he replied, his tone indifferent.

“Actually, I understand your feelings,” she sighed. “You’ve always felt guilty toward Rebecca, blaming yourself for her inability to dance. But no matter how much you owe her, you’ve already paid enough. You’ve given her the best five years of your life, along with all the money and houses. Without you, she couldn’t have just come abroad as she liked.”
