Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 288

Chapter 288

Rebecca hailed a cab with Gabriel and raced straight to Josette’s apartment complex.

Concerned, Desmond and Lauren went with them.

“Don’t worry, Rebecca,” Lauren said softly. “We’re almost there.”

Desmond echoed, “Yeah, Denise visited her just yesterday.”

Denise had dropped by yesterday, and she had called Josette that morning. Everything seemed to be fine, yet the dread wouldn’t loosen its grip.

An hour later, they reached the complex.

Rebecca sprinted upstairs, unlocked the door, and froze in place.

Josette was gone, the apartment trashed.

The others were equally shocked. They split up immediately.

Lauren ran to property management for security footage. Gabriel and Rebecca searched the neighborhood on foot. Desmond headed straight to the police station and started a group chat so they could share updates in real time.

Rebecca turned on her local phone before a flood of missed calls and frantic texts poured in. Ignoring them, she kept calling Josette or sending video requests.

But Josette’s phone was off.

Half an hour later, Lauren returned with the security footage. Gabriel and Rebecca had found nothing.

The video showed Josette leaving the complex with Soren, Adeline, and Emmett.

“Those beasts!” Rebecca clutched the phone, shaking with rage and bursting into tears.

“Let’s head to the police station now,” Lauren said, steadying Rebecca.

They raced to the station.

It was technically a family matter. Josette had left with her own son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, but Rebecca begged and poured out the ugly history.

Finally, she asked them to check whether any of the four had bought plane or train tickets and where they had gone.

The search showed they had all flown back to Soliaridge and already landed. Rebecca kept dialing Josette’s number, but her phone was off. Video requests also went unanswered.

She tried Soren’s number, but he rejected it. Adeline and Emmett did the same thing.

She called everyone she could think of, even Elton. He said no one had been at the house for over a

month except the time Vance had stopped by.

“We’re going back to Soliaridge!” Rebecca trembled, automatically ignoring the part about Vance.

Her whole mind was on her grandmother. She didn’t know how they had even found Josette or how Soren had gotten out of jail, especially since the kidnapping case wasn’t even closed yet.

On the flight back, many questions swirled in her mind. She didn’t hear a single word Gabriel or Desmond said.

Gabriel could only watch over her. When she refused to eat, he opened a yogurt and held it out. “If you don’t eat, I’ll have to feed you like a toddler.”

Rebecca’s mind was in turmoil. She drank the whole thing in one go, already planning her next move the second they landed.

“Maybe I can visit the jail?” she muttered, seeing an entry point.

It was her right to visit her father in prison. 2
