Chapter 339

Vance glanced at the growing crowd, frowning. “Can we talk about this later? It isn’t appropriate to make a scene here.”
Gabriel wasn’t impressed. “Rebecca has every right to do whatever she likes.”
Vance ignored him, treating his words as noise.
“This man has been mouthing off this whole time,” Catherine accused. “No manners and no class. He could drag Rebecca into trouble and hurt the company, so I tried to reason with him and take Rebecca away. But they slapped me in front of so many people. I can’t take this humiliation.”
Aiden and Lucas arrived, frowning at the scene.
Isabelle cleared her throat and furrowed her brow. Lucas caught the signal, quickly moving over to steady her. “Honey, be careful. You’re pregnant.”
She snorted, saying nothing.
Aiden frowned at his reaction, then turned to glare at Rebecca, “That’s enough. Let’s not make this ugly. Apologize to Catherine, and she’ll let it go for Vance’s sake.”
“What?” Gabriel was incredulous. “You want Rebecca to apologize to her? What’s your problem?”
“Who the hell are you?” Aiden shot back.
Gabriel tucked Rebecca closer. “And who the hell are you?”
His smile was chilling despite his refined looks behind glasses.
Aiden lost it. “How did this trust-fund wannabe even get in? Call security and throw him out!”
Like Catherine, he assumed Gabriel had piggybacked in on Vance’s invitation.
Vance never liked Gabriel, but he wasn’t about to turn this into an even bigger circus. Involving security would be worse optics.
He stepped in front of Rebecca and extended a hand. “Come on. Let’s go. We’re all on the same side.”
She didn’t take his hand. Instead, she linked her arm through Gabriel’s.
“Don’t be willful, okay?” he added, still thinking she was throwing a tantrum. “I’ll apologize on her behalf, alright?”
Gabriel scoffed, “What is this? You’re going to apologize on her behalf? In what capacity? Her lover?”
Many people had gathered around them, all watching the spectacle. His words sparked a flurry of discussions.
Vance went livid. “I respect you as Rebecca’s cousin. Please show some decorum! This is not a place for

you to act recklessly.”

“So what if I act recklessly? What can you do about it?” Gabriel took on an air of arrogance and
superiority.
Vance glanced at the surrounding crowd, trying to control his emotions. No matter what, he had to keep the situation under control and preserve his dignity.
He suppressed his anger and spoke to Rebecca. “Come here. This is a matter between us. I’ll make it up to you. How about a new necklace? I’ve bought you so many pieces of jewelry. Why are you wearing that
one?”
He had heard Catherine’s comment earlier. He also assumed the seemingly old necklace was just a
worthless item from some online store.
“I don’t want it,” she refused, leaning closer to Gabriel.
This was their turf, and they could do whatever they liked. Whether it escalated or not, they didn’t care. It wasn’t their opponents who would lose face.
