Chapter 415
So, Aiden stopped fighting.
He agreed to the divorce and gave Sonia full custody of their son. He also agreed to recover the marital assets he had given Catherine.
In addition, he would pay generous child support in one lump sum. Finally, he offered Sonia a settlement taken from the money he had “gifted” to his parents.
Of course, those gifts had been nothing but asset transfers.
Sonia’s only real goal had been to get the divorce and escape this scumbag. She was willing to walk away with nothing. Now that she had achieved her goal and even gained a little more, she was already
satisfied.
She only hoped the judge would grant the divorce and not reject it on the first try. Fortunately, both she and Aiden were resolute about ending the
e marriage, s
Ocess went smoothly.
She had finally cut ties with that rotten mand
When she walked out of the courthouse, she still felt dazed. If Isabelle hadn’t been holding her up, her legs might have buckled.
Isabelle had asked Lucas to come pick them up. Then, right outside the courthouse, the two men got
into it.
Lucas felt sorry to see Aiden’s marriage end like that. Coming to pick up Sonia felt like betraying and insulting his friend.
The second Aiden saw him, he charged over and started throwing punches. Lucas felt so guilty that he just stood there and let Aiden hit him to blow off steam.
But Isabelle couldn’t stand it. Why should Lucas get beaten? It wasn’t like he had taught Aiden to cheat.
“Lucas, fight back!” she yelled. “Don’t just stand there and take it like a coward!”
The two men were too tangled up to hear her. Her hot temper kicked in. She grabbed an iron rod from the car and swung it straight at Aiden.
Lucas saw it and panicked, quickly jumping in front of her, but the rod still landed hard on Aiden’s back. Terrified Aiden would turn on her, Lucas shielded her.
She couldn’t break through, but the iron rod flew out of her hand and smashed toward Aiden again. Ready this time, he blocked it with his arm, but the impact still sent pain shooting through him.
“You crazy bitch!” he roared, ready to charge.
Sonia quickly stepped in, picking up the rod and holding it horizontally in front of her. “Try coming any
closer!”

For years, Aiden had manipulated and belittled her. She had never stood up to him like this before. Her action took him by surprise; he had every reason to believe it was under Isabelle’s influence.
“You dare challenge me?” he bellowed, lunging for the rod.
Before he could get close, Sonia started swinging it wildly. She didn’t know if she could hit him; she just needed to keep swinging so he couldn’t grab it.
If he got hold of it, she would never win.
In the chaos, Aiden couldn’t get close. Every time he reached for the rod, it smacked him painfully. After taking several solid hits, he gave up and attempted to circle past her.
But wherever he moved, she blocked him. For a moment, he couldn’t break through.
