Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 414

Chapter 414

Sonia and Aiden’s divorce finally went to court.

Isabelle went along to support Sonia, and both sides brought lawyers. Sonia requested the divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences and presented evidence of Aiden’s numerous entanglements with other women.

Aiden had already declared he wouldn’t beg or play nice. He agreed to the divorce without a fight.

The case, which appeared to have mutual consent, made people wonder whether it even needed to go through the courts, but the real battle broke out over property division and child custody.

Aiden wanted custody of their son, which took Sonia by surprise. He had always been cold and absent as a father. To Shane, “Dad” was nothing more than a distant title.

His lawyer argued that Sonia had not worked for many years, was merely a housewife, and lacked the ability to raise the child.

Sonia had come prepared. Her lawyer submitted evidence showing that she had single-handedly raised their son while Aiden had never been present.

In particular, there were chat records where Sonia had begged Aiden to come home when the boy was sick, only to be ignored or rejected.

The most damning evidence was Aiden’s medical records from treatment for a sexually transmitted disease. It proved his chaotic private life and that he carried an infectious illness, making him unfit to raise a child.

Aiden nearly exploded with rage in the courtroom. His lawyer claimed the records were private information and that the other side had infringed on his rights; they could not be used as evidence.

Sonia’s lawyer simply spread his hands and stayed silent. The message was clear: “Yes, my client may have obtained them improperly, so what? The disease is a fact, and now it’s on the table.”

In his fury, Aiden decided not to give Sonia any leeway. It was just a son. He could have as many as he wanted. Catherine was already carrying one.

So, the dispute shifted back to property.

Aiden had almost no assets in his name. The house had been bought before marriage and counted as premarital property. He had several cars, but they weren’t worth much. He could let Sonia have them.

Cash? Practically zero. There were debts. He had played the asset-hiding and transferring game perfectly.

Sonia only wanted a quick and clean divorce, so when her lawyer warned her that Aiden had likely moved assets around, she had already mentally prepared herself to walk away with almost nothing.

She simply instructed her lawyer to recover whatever could be traced. The lawyer requested Aiden’s

recent bank statements.

Aiden was cunning and trusted no one. From the day they married, he had guarded against her. Besides household expenses and credit card payments, he had never given her any extra money.

She had no idea how much he had.

Older transactions, whether they were investments, gifts to his parents, or other forms of transfers, were difficult to trace now. Only recent transactions could be checked, and the most obvious transfers were the house, luxury bags, and cash he had lavished on Catherine.

So, the first target was recovering those marital assets.

His lawyer fought hard on his behalf, but Aiden suddenly realized his records might not withstand scrutiny. If they dug too deep, they might uncover other things that could land him in serious legal trouble.
