Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 472

Chapter 472

Vance vanished after that.

From Christmas through New Year, he never appeared in front of Rebecca again.

She felt nothing, barely thinking of him at all. These days, her life was filled with holidays, family gatherings, and Desmond. There was simply no time or space left for old memories.

If there was even the slightest regret in these happy days, it came from a piece of sad news she heard at the clinic.

The elderly woman told her that Robert had passed away. The cheerful man who always called her “my dancing girl” would never walk through the clinic doors again.

“I saw his son put him in the ambulance,” the old lady said, wiping her tears. “That old man never came back.

In a place like the clinic, patients shared a quiet sense of camaraderie. When someone passed away, it was impossible not to feel a pang. But the sorrow was brief.

Some patients were curious. “Robert had a son? What was he like? How come we never saw him?”

French people did gossip.

The elderly woman didn’t know much. She only said, “He’s an American, and quite handsome. Their house is just up the street. The son probably still lives there. You might run into him.”

A person’s life, whether filled with glory or quiet days, eventually drifted away like dust on the wind.

For the first few days, the patients talked about Robert, then gradually forgot him. No one mentioned him anymore, and certainly no one remembered he had a son who might live nearby.

Rebecca received three emails. Two came from her old schools-Soliaridge High and Arelmoor Dance Academy. The third was from a children’s disability foundation.

All three were thank-you letters for donations made in her name. But when had she ever made those donations?

It was easy to find out. She asked her former teachers.

Clueless, Lauren looked into it and soon got the answer. The donation had indeed been made in Rebecca’s name. She sent screenshots of the payment account and name to Rebecca.

The high school teacher’s reply came too. “The donor was Vance Bradford. He gave us an entire multi-purpose building complete with an arts hall, science labs, a library, and more. The teachers asked me to thank both of you.”

The dance academy confirmed the same thing.

Rebecca hadn’t expected to hear that name again under these circumstances.

The disability foundation forwarded the donor’s note: [Every child is a little angel. They simply arrived in this world running a little too fast and left some parts behind. I hope this small contribution can give them an extra pair of wings on the road to rediscovering their dreams.]

Rebecca felt a flicker of curiosity. How did he still have so much money?

Gabriel returned, told her that Vance had sold his company, and even shared the exact sale price.

So, had the donations come from the proceeds?

“His company still held some core technology and source code,” Gabriel explained. “Even though the business wasn’t doing well, the brand still had decent recognition, and not all the core engineers had left. Packaged together, it sold for a good price. But how he paid off the bank loans, compensated the employees, and divided the rest with the other shareholders… that’s his business. I don’t know the details.”
