Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 483

Chapter 483

“Vance!” Rebecca called after him.

He paused in surprise, waiting for her to continue.

She asked, “Why did you open the Cookie House in this neighborhood?”

He let out a soft sigh. “This shop was left by the father I didn’t want to acknowledge. It used to sell alcohol. I don’t have the money right now to buy a new location somewhere else. If this is causing you trouble, then I…”

“No need,” she interrupted, turning and continuing her way toward the clinic.

They were living separate lives now. She wasn’t going to be that overbearing.

Behind her, she heard Anna’s voice.

“What happened?”

“Nothing. Let’s go. What do you want for dinner?”

“How about pasta?”

“To go with sauce or seafood?”

“Either is fine.”

Was this really Vance Bradford? The man who could now discuss such ordinary, everyday things with a girl?

He had truly changed.

Vance finished packing up and prepared to head back to the shop. Before leaving, he glanced back one last time and saw Rebecca walking into the clinic with steady, confident steps. There was no trace of a limp anymore.

After her rehab session, Desmond still hadn’t appeared.

There was no rehearsal scheduled that afternoon, but she needed to discuss the notes she had made after reviewing the previous night’s performance with the troupe. She had already posted the meeting notice in the group chat.

When she arrived at the rehearsal hall, all the members had gathered, except for the male lead. She thought for a moment and called Desmond, who picked up on the first ring.

“Where are you? Everyone’s waiting for you,” she said.

“I’m right outside the rehearsal hall.” Desmond walked in with an unreadable smile on his face.

Since the whole troupe was present, it wasn’t the time to discuss personal matters. Rebecca simply clapped her hands and announced, “Alright, everyone’s here. Let me go over the issues of last night’s performance.”

For the next two hours, she went through all the points she had noted, deciding not to rehearse that evening so the dancers could digest the feedback. If anyone had different opinions, they could bring them up during tomorrow’s rehearsal.

Once everyone else had left, she finally turned to Desmond. “What’s going on?”

He looked aggrieved. “You finally remembered I exist.”

She frowned. “When did I ever forget you?”

She was the one who had been forgotten. He had been missing all day.

Desmond held up his phone. “From last night until now, almost 20 hours have passed. You never replied to my message.”

She finally remembered that unanswered question. She felt it was time to have a serious talk with him.

“Desmond,” she said seriously, “are you bothered by the fact that I was once married to Vance?”

“I’m not,” he answered immediately.

She nodded. “That’s a fact that can’t be changed. If it bothers you, we can think about this again.”

“I’m not,” he said anxiously. “I’m just afraid you loved him more than you love me.”

Her eyes narrowed. “So, you disappeared for a whole day to test me?”

His shoulders slumped. “I wanted to see if you cared about me, but you only remembered your male lead when it was time for rehearsal. I was waiting outside the whole time, hoping you would notice my absence.”

She let out a soft sigh. “I thought you understood me. Vance and I will never get back together. He is no longer in my heart. I hope this is the last time I have to say these words.”
