Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 484

Chapter 484

Touched, Desmond pulled her into his arms. “I’m sorry. It was my fault. I won’t do it again.”

Rebecca smiled. “Good. Now I’m hungry.”

He perked up immediately. “Let’s go home!”

He turned around, squatted down, and placed her hands on his shoulders. Then he lifted her onto his back and jogged out of the school, drawing cheers from the students still on campus.

After that, they didn’t see Vance for a long time. Occasionally, Rebecca would run into Anna shopping at the supermarket, but Vance was never with her.

One day, she overheard several nurses at the clinic gossiping.

“Why hasn’t the Cookie House been sending us pastries lately? It’s been days.”

“Don’t start complaining. They’re running a business. Why would they keep giving things away forever?”

“You’re right.”

“Actually, I tried to order a cake the other day. The owner said he wouldn’t deliver anymore.”

“Really? What kind of business does that? Doesn’t he want customers?”

“Who knows? We were regular clients. We bought bread and everything from him to support a fellow countryman. Now that business is picking up, his service attitude has gotten so bad.”

“They can use a delivery service.”

“Feels like once business improved, he didn’t want to deal with us. Never mind. There are plenty of other places to buy cake.”

Rebecca and Desmond heard every word of their conversation. Of course, Rebecca knew why the Cookie House had stopped delivering. Desmond paused, then quickly figured it out.

After they left the clinic, he asked her in the car, “Did you say something to the bakery?”

“Yes,” she admitted honestly. “I might have overstepped. Vance and I are supposed to live separate lives now and have nothing to do with each other. But I didn’t want little things like this to affect us.”

Desmond looked both ashamed and moved. He leaned over and hugged her tightly. “I’m sorry.”

She patted his back. “It’s okay. But I’m doing this only once.”

“I know,” he murmured, kissing her earlobe. “I like you so much. That’s why…”

She listened quietly to his heartbeat, suddenly realizing he was the first person who had ever said that to her.

“I’m going to practice hard from now on,” he vowed in her ear. “I’ll show my best self in your choreography!”

“Good!” She nodded, believing that he loved her with his whole heart.

Since they had started this relationship, she would do her best to protect it. True love was rare in this world. Now that she had it, she would cherish it.

Just as Desmond had promised, he performed exceptionally well in the dance drama. He was a natural male lead. With his outstanding performance and the suggestions on choreography, their second show at the neighborhood’s theater was even more successful.

The neighbors turned out again to support them. In their exaggerated words, they had clapped so hard that night their palms turned red.

Vance and Anna didn’t come this time.
