Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 498

Chapter 498

Once ashore and through the terminal, Rebecca saw a brand new comforter and a pair of shoes.

Apparently, they had been delivered under Vance’s order. He took out the shoes and helped her put them on.

She had been barefoot the entire time, and her feet were cold.

She didn’t refuse. Although she wanted to draw a strict line with him, there was no need to suffer unnecessarily; she would pay

him back later.

As for the comforter, she had no idea what it was for and didn’t care to ask. She simply walked straight out of the hall.

Vance had already called a car.

“Get in,” he said, holding the door open. “Sleep on the way back. The AC will be cold. You’ve been drinking and sweating. Cover yourself with the blanket so you don’t catch a cold.”

He handed her the comforter. “It’s brand new. The delivery guy just brought it.”

“What about you? Not going back?”

“You don’t want to ride with me, so I’ll call another car.”

That was unnecessary.

“Just get in. You sit in the front.”

“All right.”

He closed her door and took the passenger seat.

As soon as the car started moving, exhaustion overwhelmed Rebecca. The cool air and soft blanket were perfect. She fell asleep almost instantly.

In her half-dream state, she vaguely heard the driver ask Vance, “You guys have a fight?”

Vance said nothing and only gave a quiet laugh.

The driver continued, “Couples go on trips and come back divorced all the time, you know.”

Since they had come from the port, he assumed they were returning from a vacation.

“Yeah?” Vance’s laugh was noncommittal.

“It’s simple. Think about what she wants and do what she wants. A grown man should know how to keep his wife happy. It doesn’t matter where you go or what you do. What matters is going together and enjoying each other’s company,” said the driver.

Vance made no comments.

“Am I wrong?” The driver suddenly realized he might have talked too much. “Sorry, I tend to chat when I drive at night. Keeps me from getting sleepy.”

“No, it’s not that,” Vance replied. “She’s not my wife.”

“Girlfriend?”

“Not exactly.”

The driver glanced at them. “No way. You two look like a married couple or at least dating.”

She was his ex-wite, but there was no need to explain it to a stranger. To avoid further conversation, Vance simply closed his eyes and pretended to sleep.

They arrived in Soliaridge at sunrise. Rebecca had slept the entire way and was woken up by him when they reached the destination-Gabriel’s house in the city.

“Should we pull into the driveway or drop you at the curb?”

“Right here is fine.”

She got out. The cold morning wind cleared her head. She glanced back at the comforter site had used.

“I’ll take care of it,” Vance said, stepping out as well.

“How much?” she asked in the chilly dawn air.

“What, you want to split the cab fare, too?”

“Yes.”

Although most of her money had come from their marital assets, this was separate.

“Your Venmo is still linked to the same number, right?”

“Yes.”

“I’ll Venmo you later.”

“Okay.”

He checked the order and told her the amount without arguing. As he took out his phone, she remembered something and demanded, “Delete the location sharing.”

“Is that necessary? The phone is already gone anyway.”

“What if it turns up? Besides, with location sharing, it shouldn’t be hard to find.”
