Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 504

Chapter 504

“Great!” Rebecca curled up in Desmond’s arms.

Her freshly dried hair was warm and smelled of shampoo. She was wrapped in a cozy, sweet fragrance that felt worlds away from the cold, dark sea last night.

“Rebecca,” Desmond murmured, running his fingers through her hair.

“Hmm?” She felt so warm she could barely keep her eyes open.

“Tired?”

“Yeah.”

“Talk to me a little before you sleep, okay?” He held her tighter and whispered against her ear.

“You talk.” Her voice was soft and sleepy.

“How did Vance end up with you last night?” he asked casually, as if the thought had just occurred to him.

“Well…” She told him the truth. “I had dinner with some high school classmates. After it ended, I got kidnapped. Hugo called every classmate who had been at the dinner.”

“How did he manage to track you down?”

“It’s a long story.”

It involved Catherine and location sharing.

Desmond’s eyes darkened, and she quickly added, “It had something to do with Catherine.”

His expression eased a little. He pulled her closer and said softly “From now on, let’s skip any gatherings where Vance will be there, okay?”

He looked adorably pleading, his eyes wide and puppy-like. She had never been able to say no to that face.

She touched his chin and nodded. “Okay. I didn’t even know he would be there. If I had, I definitely wouldn’t have gone.”

“I love you.” He kissed the top of her head.

When he leaned in to kiss lower, a knock sounded at the door.

“Who is it?” he sighed in frustration.

“Who do you think?” she chuckled, slipping out of his lap to open the door.

Outside, Nancy was carrying a bowl of hot soup. “I just made this. It will warm you up and settle your stomach. Drink it and get some good rest.”

She handed over the whole tray.

“Thanks.” Rebecca took it.

Nancy paused, as if trying to say something. In the end, she just closed the door and went downstairs.

“What kind of soup is it? Does it taste better than mine?” Desmond came over to inspect the bowl.

She gave him a playful glare. “You’re even jealous of Nancy’s cooking now.”

“Yeah,” he grinned. “I’m that petty. I want you to love only me in the whole world.”

She sipped the soup. “What about Josette? Kaitlyn? Gabriel? Should I stop loving them, too?”

“They’re family. I’m talking about everyone else-random people.”

“Nancy isn’t random. She’s taken care of me for years. Now she’s with Gabriel, so we treat her like family, too.”

Desmond wasn’t happy but didnt argue further.

“Fine. We can add her, but no more. Your heart is only so big. How many people can it hold?” He gestured. “A person’s heart is about the size of their own fist./Look how small your hand is.”

She set the tray down and wrapped her hand around his fist “Even if the heart is small, it can still hold the whole world. Want some?”

She sat down, stirred the sweet soup, and lifted a spoonful to his lips. “This is the sweetness of everyday life. I’m giving you half.
