Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 518

Chapter 518

“Does my shop bother you somehow?” Vance asked, still in his apron, chef hat, and mask.

“Yes,” Desmond said brusquely. “Why did you open a shop right next to Rebecca’s studio? Why a cookie shop? Because I make cakes for her all the time, and you want to compete with me?”

“That’s not it.” Vance gave a bitter smile. “This was my father’s storefront.”

“I’ll buy it,” Desmond said domineeringly. “I don’t care whose shop it was. I’m buying it!”

The words sounded familiar.

Back when Catherine had been rejected by some shops, she had shouted, “I can buy this dump if I want!”

Of course, Vance had been the one who would foot the bills. He hadn’t done that, but the boomerang still came back around.

He took off his chef’s gear. “Did Rebecca send you?”

“Yes!”

“No, she didn’t.”

Desmond’s lie was seen through, and his embarrassment turned into anger,

“She did! Do you have any idea how much trouble you’re causing her here? You’re her pain! Every time she sees you, the memories come back. If you have even a shred of conscience, can you think about her for once? Stay away from her! Be a proper ex!”

Vance let out a long sigh.

“What’s that supposed to mean? Just name your price. I’ll buy the place, and you move out!” Desmond shouted.

Vance turned to Anna. “Put up a sign. Everything in the shop is free today, A thank-you to all our customers for their support these past weeks.”

“What are you doing?” Desmond’s eyes narrowed.

“I’m closing the shop,” Vance said.

Desmond froze, not expecting it to be that easy.

“But…”

“I knew there’d be a ‘but.’ What tricks are you pulling now?”

“I’m closing the shop and not selling it to you. I’ll just leave it closed.”

Desmond thought about it, not caring about what happened to the shop. Vance staying out of sight was what

mattered.

“Still…”

“Vance advised like a senior. “She doesn’t need you to do this for her.”

“What are you trying to say?” Desmond frowned.

“Loving someone is like tending a flower. You give it sunlight, rain, and room to breathe. If you smother the seed, it won’t grow.”

“You think you’re qualified to lecture me on how to love someone? After what you did to her? You don’t know the first thing about love.”

“Just because I hurt her, I finally learned.”

“What do you know? We’re both men. Don’t think I don’t see it. You’ve finally realized how great she is, right? You’ve finally figured out she’s the one worth loving? Let me tell you. You don’t get to think about that anymore!”

“I’m only reminding you. When she loves someone, she gives her whole heart. She’s not the type to play games. I may not have been a good husband, but I probably know her better than you do. You don’t need to act like this. She’s wonderful. Even without me, there will always be people who appreciate her. You can’t…”
