Chapter 527
Denise lost it. “You’re out of your mind! I can understand you suspecting her with her ex, but the bodyguard, too? That’s way over the line!”
Desmond faltered. “I’m not saying she’s messing around. But if she cared about how it looked, she wouldn’t let a guy stay overnight in her house. Even if I believe her, other people are going to get the wrong idea.”
“Other people? Who cares? You’re the only one getting the wrong idea! I’m not, and her ex surely isn’t!” Denise didn’t want to argue anymore. She just warned him, “Keep this up, and you’re going to lose her!”
Rebecca was badly shaken by the attack. Nightmares haunted her all night.
She woke up screaming each time. Luckily, Aaron was right outside. “Ms. Perry, I’m here. You’re safe. Don’t be afraid.”
He had already reported the incident to Gabriel, who had given new orders. From now on, they would follow those instructions exactly, and tomorrow they would even send extra people to Edinburgh.
After a restless night, Rebecca woke up early the next morning. Her bags were already packed. Aaron carried her suitcase, and the car was waiting outside.
As she climbed in, she glanced at the house next door. There were no sounds. She had no idea whether Desmond had left for the airport or not.
Aaron drove them straight to the airport. The dance troupe members arrived one by one and started lining up to board.
Rebecca did a quick headcount and found two people were missing: Desmond and Willow.
“Coach, they’re not here yet?” The dancers were getting visibly anxious.
They were about to take off, and the leads were nowhere to be seen. There was no time for personal drama. Rebecca started calling Desmond, and another called Willow.
Desmond’s phone went straight to voicemail, while Willow picked up.
“Willow says they’re on their way and will make it. She tells us to board first, and Desmond is with her,” the dancer reported.
“Good,” Rebecca said. “Everyone, line up and board.”
At least, the two weren’t completely out of reach. Desmond was probably still sulking and refusing to answer her.
They landed at noon, and the schedule was tight. The hotel check-in was immediately followed by a rehearsal.
Rebecca wasn’t at her best because she hadn’t slept much last night. But as the supervisor, she had to keep an eye on both the performance and everyone’s safety.
Fortunately, the show wasn’t until the day after tomorrow. They still had two full days to adjust and rehearse.
By the afternoon, Desmond and Willow still hadn’t arrived. Rebecca tried contacting them again with no success.
“Maybe they switched flights and are still in the air?” one dancer guessed.
With the two leads missing, Rebecca started to get seriously worried. With no other choice, she had the male understudy step in and walk the female lead’s blocking herself.

The next day was another full rehearsal, but the two leads were still missing.
The dancer who had been contacting Willow reported, “Willow says something came up yesterday, and they missed the flight. They’ll be here today.”
By then, Rebecca realized it wasn’t incidental at all. It was deliberate.
Once again, she had the understudy take the male lead’s role.
