Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 539

Chapter 539

Desmond was taken away. The only thing lingering in the air was the sickeningly sweet scent of lilies

Rebecca sat on the floor, hugging her knees as large tears rolled down her cheeks.

After handing Desmond over to Denise, Aaron reported the incident to Gabriel and received instructions

to take Rebecca back to Kaitlyn’s house.

Rebecca didn’t want Josette to worry, so she forced a smile and said she had sprained her ankle during

rehab and needed to rest at home.

Josette immediately helped her to bed and went to prepare nourishing food. The bedroom door closed,

and she broke down.

She wanted to rest, but she couldn’t sleep. Desmond’s voice kept echoing in her mind like a curse.

I gave up so much for you. The only way you can repay me is by spending your whole life with meyour whole life with meonly your whole life

Every time she started to drift off, that voice would explode inside her skull, causing unbearable

headaches. She became terrified of her phone. Every time it rang, she would jump as if electrocuted, her heart leaping into her throat.

When the demonic voice woke her again, her phone rang at the same time. She grabbed it without looking and hurled it against the wall.

The phone hit the floor and finally went silent. She bit down on the blanket, wanting to cry but too afraid

to make a sound.

Gabriel came home that evening, immediately checking on her. Under the blanket, her cheeks were streaked with tears. She looked completely broken.

Becky,he said softly, sitting beside her.

Gabe. She quickly sat up, forcing a smile. “You had time to come home for dinner today?

He sighed at her stubborn effort to appear strong even in this state. Silly girl, do you think we’re all blind? Grandma and my mother are worried sick. They just didn’t want to disturb your rest.

She had only been pretending. Once he pointed it out, she couldn’t keep up the act and lowered her head. Aaron told me everything,he said gently, smoothing her hair. Don’t be afraid. I’ve got you covered. From now on, you’ll stay here. Aaron and the team will drive you back and forth every day.

She looked up at him blankly, her voice filled with pain. Do I have to marry Desmond to repay him for everything he’s done?

What repayment?Gabriel asked, finally seeing the sheer terror in her eyes.

Without him, there would be no me today. He found the therapist and accompanied me to every rehab

session. He gave up inheriting the family business to study with me and be the male lead in my show. Without him, I would never have returned to the stage

She repeated Desmond’s words mechanically, tears streaming down her face. Isn’t that right? I owe him. I can never repay him, can I?

Who told you that? His heart ached.

He pulled her head gently against his shoulder and patted her back. Marriage isn’t about favors or debts. No one has to marry anyone.

She shook her head in anguish. Then how do I repay him for everything he did for me? I can’t. I have nothing to give him in return. I wish I just owed him money. No matter how much it was, there would be an end to it.

But with feelings, the only way to repay them is with a lifetime. I shouldn’t have fallen in love again. I really shouldn’t have.
