Rebecca struggled desperately, but Desmond pinned her down tightly. His eyes above her seemed to glow with a destructive light as he repeated those words.

“I gave up so much for you. How are you going to repay me? How can you burn the bridge and throw me away? Would you even be where you are today without me?

“Tell me. Who helped you out of the darkness? Who helped you return to the stage? Who gave up a billion. -dollar family fortune to come to this place and be your male lead? Now that you’ve found a younger male lead, you don’t need me anymore? How can you be so heartless?”

She shook her head frantically, but it was useless. Desmond’s eyes were glowing with a sharp, manic intensity she couldn’t understand.

“Babe, say we’re not breaking up. Say it! Say you love me. Come on! Say it, and I’ll let you go. The only way you can repay me is by giving me your whole life. Do you understand?”

Her mouth was covered so tightly that she couldn’t utter a sound. Tears welled up in her eyes.

“You’re going to be this stubborn? You can’t! Babe, you’re mine. Do you know how much I love you? I would give up everything for you. Do you understand?”

He suddenly lowered his head, trying to force a kiss on her. The tight grip hurt, and the overwhelming scent of lilies mixed with his uncontrolled rage made her stomach churn.

Right before his lips touched hers, she used every ounce of strength she had, jerked her head to the side, and freed one hand.

A crisp, loud slap landed across his face. Time seemed to freeze. All his movements stopped.

He remained leaning over her, his head turned to the side. A clear handprint rapidly bloomed on his left

cheek.

“Help! Aaron!” Rebecca scrambled off the bed, screaming, “Help! Somebody, help!”

Aaron and the other bodyguards burst through the door. They had never imagined danger could reach her, even with them standing guard outside.

They subdued Desmond in no time. Rebecca limped and half–ran, crying as she fled toward the living

room.
