Chapter 545

The next few days, Rebecca stayed busy.

She had never realized just how rich and fulfilling Josette’s life was. Josette’s only real issue was that her French wasn’t fluent enough for free conversation, but otherwise her days were wonderfully full.

She accompanied Josette to one of Kaitlyn’s company product shows because one of the designs featured Josette’s embroidery ideas.

Josette didn’t have formal design training, but she knew a great deal about embroidery and ancient jewelry. She had many creative ideas, and Kaitlyn helped turn them into reality.

Josette was supposed to go on stage that day, but Kaitlyn was busy with the show, asking Rebecca to handle Josette’s outfit and makeup.

That alone required quite a bit of work. Rebecca helped Josette choose a gown, did her makeup, styled her hair, and got herself ready, too. Then she spent the afternoon at the show with Josette and attended the evening banquet.

By the end, her high heels had her feet aching so badly she could barely walk. Once again, the moment she got home, she collapsed into bed and fell asleep.

Gabriel had a product event aimed at the American community. The scheduled host couldn’t make it because of a flight issue, so Gabriel handed the job to Rebecca.

She spent the day memorizing lines, looking up words in the dictionary, and consulting AI because many of the professional terms were so specialized that she didn’t even understand them. But she didn’t want to bother Gabriel with every single word since he was so busy.

That night, she dreamed she was still translating and reciting host lines. Surrounded by the gardenia scent, she didn’t even notice the sound of the leaves. The pressure felt like she was back in high school, preparing for finals.

The next day on stage, she was incredibly nervous, terrified of messing things up. That night, she came home and fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow.

Another day, she went with Josette to the ranch. Only then did she learn that Gabriel’s family operated ranches.

Josette wanted to watch the cows being milked, so they spent the whole day running around the ranch. In the evening, Gabriel and Kaitlyn joined them, and they had a barbecue together.

Rebecca ate until her stomach was full. That night, breathing in the fresh air that smelled of earth and grass, she slept straight through until morning.

She was unaware that someone else had come that night as well, though he never showed himself in front of her. He had come prepared to blow on the leaves if needed. But that night, it wasn’t necessary.

She slept too deeply and sweetly, and she woke up early the next morning. Josette was still sound asleep, probably tired from the past few days. Even the noise Rebecca made didn’t wake her.

Rebecca kept thinking about the pregnant cow and wanted to check. As she walked past their cabin and headed toward the back, she heard Gabriel talking to someone whose voice sounded so familiar.

What’s wrong? How did you get diarrhea?

My stomach is a little upset.

It wasn’t because I gave you that cold meat last night, was it?

ProbablyYeah.

You really don’t hold back. How are you feeling? Do you need me to rush you to the hospital? How many times did you get up
