Chapter 559
Aaron and his team were nearby. Since the attack, they had been instructed never to let Rebecca leave their sight.
As long as she shouted, they would appear immediately. But Margaret wasn’t a criminal. She was a girl and a member of her own troupe.
After a brief standoff, Margaret let go, and Rebecca closed the door. The moment is shut, she heard Denise exploding outside “Margaret! Why are you bothering Rebecca again?”
“I just don’t get it! How can you side with someone who hurt your brother like that?”
“You don’t understand. That’s not her fault, and besides, she treats me well.”
Their voices gradually faded, and Rebecca sighed quietly.
Denise had lived next door for a whole year now, and they had truly grown close through daily life. Rebecca had treated her like family.
When Denise struggled with the climate or got sick, Rebecca had always taken care of her. That was why Denise favored her so much.
Now that things had fallen apart with Desmond, Rebecca didn’t know how much longer this bond would fast. But it was normal for people to meet and part.
Right now, Rebecca needed to figure out how to deal with, or at least guard against Margaret.
After that encounter, Margaret quieted down in the troupe. She stopped nitpicking and making snide remarks. Instead, she started getting along well with several members, often treating them to meals and giving them gifts like lipstick and face creams.
