Chapter 577
Luckily, Josette’s condition wasn’t serious.
After receiving an IV drip overnight and several hours of observation, she had stabilized, and they were preparing to take her
home.
In the parking lot, Vance and Anna were getting out of their car. The two vehicles were parked right next to each other, so it was impossible not to see them.
They were wearing thick hats and masks, bundled up in down coats.
Rebecca realized this might be the first time she had ever seen Vance in a down jacket. In the past, he had always been so
meticulous, complaining that down jackets looked bulky and unprofessional.
He greeted everyone politely and turned to Rebecca at last, asking who was unwell.
“It’s nothing serious,” Gabriel said, helping Josette into the car because it was cold outside. His tone was polite but distant.”
Thank you for your concern, Mr. Bradford. We’ll take our elder home now.”
Josette asked from inside the car, “What are you doing at the hospital? Are you unwell?”
“Oh, it’s not me,” Vance said quickly. “Anna has a cold.”
“Keep warm in this cold weather,” Josette reminded them kindly.
“I know. Thank you,” Vance replied.
The rims of his eyes turned red, and he pulled his hat lower to hide it.
Josette’s and Gabriel’s gazes lingered on Anna’s hands that were holding Vance’s arm. In the end, Gabriel spoke. “Let’s get in
the car.”
Rebecca was the last to get in.
Anna called out to her, “Keep warm. Don’t catch a cold as I did.”
Rebecca smiled back. “You can get some tonics from the clinic to warm you up. It helps you recover faster.”
“I already bought some,” Vance chimed in. “I prepared it the day we got back from Ireland, but it wasn’t enough.”
Rebecca nodded and was about to get in the car when Vance called out to her. She paused but didn’t turn back.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t take good care of you,” he said.
She brushed it off. “It’s all in the past. From now on, just take good care of Anna.”
She got in the car and closed the door. The car drove off.

Actually, Vance hadn’t completely failed to take care of her. Before Catherine came back to the country, his biggest fear had been her getting sick. When she had a high fever, he would stay up all night checking her temperature.
Of course, it had been more out of guilt than love. Now it no longer mattered.
This encounter left Kaitlyn unhappy. In the car, she complained, “After seeing how he stayed up all those nights helping Rebecca, I thought he had some redeeming qualities. Now it looks like he’s still the same. Was it necessary to hold hands so tightly in front of us?”
