Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 576

If it had been any other woman pointing at the dishes and telling her that Vance had made them, Rebecca would have felt like she was showing off.

But when Anna did it, she felt nothing of the sort.

Vance’s cooking is pretty good,Anna said. His sakes are delicious.

Rebecca smiled faintly. I know. Didn’t he open the cookie house for you?

She swore there was no bitterness in her wordsonly a touch of melancholy.

Anna blinked. For me? No, I didn’t like that style.1

What?Rebecca was surprised.

Anna nodded. I even teased him for being childish.

Rebecca suddenly remembered the day Vance had explained why the shop was designed like a cookie house. He had spoken in English, and Anna probably hadn’t understood.

He’s coming over,Anna said.

In the next instant, Vance appeared in the frame. You’re back? Did the trip go smoothly?

It was fine,Rebecca replied.

Looking at them together in the frame, she suddenly felt like they made a perfect picturea warm dining table, dishes Vance had cooked, Anna sitting and waiting, and him standing behind her chair, leaning over slightly.

Rebecca took a screenshot. It came out beautifullyboth of them smiling in the Europeanstyle house, like a painting.

Vance continued, The weather forecast said snow in the evening, and it was pretty accurate. We were worried your evening flight might get canceled.

I got back at noon,Rebecca replied. I just wanted to thank you for bringing the jar back for me. AlsoHappy New Year!

After their divorce, she never would have imagined saying Happy New Yearto him again. But facing Anna’s smile on the screen, she couldn’t bring herself to be cold.

It had nothing to do with forgiveness. From the exwife’s perspective, no matter how much she claimed to have let go and felt neither love nor hate, she still didn’t like the idea of Vance finding happiness. But Anna was innocent.

Happy New Year!they responded at the same time.

Another year has passed,Vance said, gazing at her through the screen.

Rebecca waved a hand. You guys go ahead with dinner. Bye.

She ended the call, looked at the beautiful screenshot, and sent it to Anna with the message: [It’s beautiful.]

Anna sent her a photo in returna picture of her dancing in the first village. Vance happened to be standing beside her, looking at her, as they were surrounded by the locals and Heather.

Rebecca couldn’t figure out Anna’s intention. She wondered if it was a warning.

Anna: [You look beautiful, too. Happy New Year!]

That was it? There was no hint of warning. Or maybe foreigners were just more subtle about it?
