Chapter 58&
In the banquet hall, Margaret’s hand shook as she held her phone.
The netizens were demanding proof. Since she claimed she had spent five years honing this piece, she should produce the evidence.
Margaret was certain this was a coordinated effort by paid trolls. She had used the same tactics before, now the boomerang had returned.
The glittering banquet was a vanity fair. When someone stood on top, everyone flattered them. But when an opportunity arose to pull them down, many would be happy to grab it.
Right there in the hall, someone spoke up. “Miss Shaw, the netizens are right. Produce the evidence and fight back.”
Margaret glared at the speaker, who sounded like he was on her side, but he clearly just wanted to watch her crash and burn.
Tiffany frowned. Before she could say anything, Margaret’s friends jumped in with their scoldings.
“I’m just standing up for Miss Shaw,” the man said innocently. “She is so talented after all. How can we let someone sling mud at her? She needs to hit back.”
Margaret was speechless because she had zero evidence proving Phoenix in Flight existed before Rebecca’s records. Her line of honing it for five years had only been hype.
The couple looked satisfied, and Margaret eagerly stared at Desmond.
“Are you sure you want me to release my videos?” he scoffed. “From start to finish, there’s no trace of Margaret in them. But there is footage of Rebecca explaining the concepts and moves to Helia and me. If I post those, it won’t be Rebecca’s face getting slapped.”
Sean waved it off. “Videos can be edited, and audio can be swapped. We’re just asking you to say something to help ride out this wave of public opinion.”
The Shaws nodded, eagerly waiting for Desmond’s agreement.
“You all keep up with technology, don’t you?” he chuckled. “There are plenty of experts and tech–savvy people online. They’ll spot edited footage instantly. Then it won’t just be my reputation on the line. Margaret will be in greater trouble.”
