By shouldering all the responsibility himsex, Desmond drew every bit of online Are toward him.
“That’s his sense of responsibility as a grown man, and you’re touched?” Tiffany was strongly against her daughter loving someone so submissively. “There are plenty of good men in this world.”
Margaret snatched her phone back. “Yes, there are plenty of men, but there’s only one Desmond Schroeder!”
She ran out of the house.
“Where are you going? If you’re going to find him, I’ll…”
Tiffany shouted after her, but she didn’t look back.
She really was going to find Desmond. When she arrived at his company, he was in a meeting. So, she waited in his office.
When he returned and saw her sitting in his chair, he was irritated. “Who let you in here?”
She sprang up from the chair, rushed toward him, and threw herself into his arms, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist.
He held his hands up awkwardly. “What are you doing?”
“Thank you,” she whispered.
“For what?” He pulled her away. “Go home. I’m busy here.”
“I know that even though you’re always mean to me on the surface, you care about me deep down,” she muttered, waving her phone.
He realized she was referring to his statement. He said gruffly, “You’re wrong. I’m mean to you on the surface, and I’m mean to you in my heart, too.”
She ignored his words. She leaned on his desk with both hands and smiled at him. “I have to say, you do look like a proper CEO in that suit.”
“Get out of here now.”
“You really want me to leave? I actually came here for someone else.”
He remained expressionless, showing no interest.

His overt concern for Rebecca annoyed her, but she told him anyway.
