Rebecca glanced back at Vance and the bodyguards lying on the ground, her heart twisting painfully. She bit her lip, then followed Aaron closely to the car.
The gunshots had alerted security. Aaron shouted urgently, "Call 911 and an ambulance!"
Then he said to the three on the ground, "Hold on! I'll drive out and notify Mr. Rossi."
Josette was frightened and gripped Rebecca's hand tightly. "Becky, don't be afraid. It's okay now. The doctors and police will be here soon. They will be fine."
Rebecca pressed herself against the car window, watching the three figures grow smaller along with the incre
security guards. Her mind buzzed, and her heart thumped violently
She clutched her chest and gasped for air. “Grandma, what about you? Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. It’s just…” Josette looked back.
The car had already pulled out of the parking lot, and the three people were no longer visible. She trembled. “How could this happen?”
No one knew how it had happened or who was behind it. A crime of passion? Premeditated murder?
Rebecca saw the gunman’s face when the car window rolled down. It was someone she had never seen before.
The view brightened as the car emerged from the underground. Aaron had been speaking on the phone and could trally communicate clearly.
“Mr. Rossi, I’m sorry for my negligence. The ladies are fine, but Mr. Bradford and the two bodyguards are injured. We don’t know the extent yet. I’ve already called the police and requested emergency services. Yes, understood.”
After hanging up, Aaron turned around. “Mr. Rossi orders me to take you home.”
