Chapter 677
Rebecca lived each day as if it might be her last.
She transferred full authority over the dance troupe to Heather, recording detailed videos of every piece she had choreographed for Edinburgh–the full routines and close–ups of key movements.
If she slipped away again, the troupe wouldn’t be left scrambling.
She met with a lawyer and drew up a formal will, disposing of her assets if she never woke up. Having already lost three months to sleep, she feared an even longer absence and refused to leave her loved ones unprepared.
She deliberately slowed her pace. Aside from necessary rehearsals, she stopped rushing around and spent as much time as possible with Josette and Kaitlyn.
The thought of disappearing and never seeing her grandmother’s face again in this life was unbearable.
The countdown had begun. It felt hauntingly familiar. She had done this once before–during the final days of her marriage to Vance.
Back then, every painful day had a clear end date, and she had known she was walking toward something better.
This time was different. She was already living in relative peace and beauty, yet she was counting down toward an unknown moment when she might simply vanish. The uncertainty was the worst part.
She was like a runner in a race against time, determined to finish everything before time ran out. She was lucky, making it from summer to autumn.
It took a detailed recounting before recognition dawned on the doctor’s face.
In fact, their encounter was like running into a stranger on the street, but there was a peculiar longing that people experienced,
When they had been obsessively trying to find out what had become of someone but were left without any answers or anyone to turn to, the moment they met someone they could talk to about it, they couldn’t help but want to hear that person’s name spoken aloud.
They longed to hear it repeated again and again.
