It looked like Vance was fine, since he had shown up here just two months ago. He was just having a little trouble walking. That was already good news for Rebecca.

Even if she didn’t know his exact location, at least he was still alive and moving through the world. As jessica said, no news was good news

“Jessica?” Tears spilled down Rebecca’s cheeks.

The landlord was taken aback. “Are you alright, Miss?”

“I’m fine.” Rebecca nodded vigorously. “I’m great, thanks!”

She didn’t need to reunite with Vance romantically. After everything she had endured, she simply wanted everyone she had once cared about to be living well.

Although Vance’s whereabouts were still a mystery, at least there were signs of him passing through. At least he was still alive and, just like Jessica said, living somewhere in a corner. That was all that mattered.

“Did he say where he was going?” Rebecca remembered that Vance had always wanted to follow in Darren’s footsteps.

Thinking of that name brought back the vivid image of the boy in her dream. If she had a few more dreams like that and woke up again, she would probably lose her mind.

The landlord shook his head. “I’ve no idea. He just said he was going on a trip.”

“Okay, thanks,” Rebecca said gratefully.

Her effort paid off after all.

As their car pulled away, the landlord started making a phone call. “Hello, they came by. Yeah, I handled their questions well. No slips. You’re welcome.”

The next day was the performance. Although Rebecca couldn’t take the stage, she could still help with the behind–the–scenes work.
