Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 679

Chapter 679

Rebecca’s hand instinctively clutched the muscles on his arm.

“He lost his legs,” Gabriel whispered.

“I knew something was wrong,” Rebecca said, then let out a strange little laugh. “The landlord said he was just having trouble walking.”

“It’s indeed trouble, in a way.” Gabriel struggled to get the words out.

“So, what exactly happened?” Rebecca clung to his arm, almost being dragged along as they walked.

Gabriel had never sounded so hesitant. His voice dropped to nearly a whisper. “His legs are gone.”

She stopped walking.

“Becky, are you all right?” He shook her shoulders, worry etched across his face.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” She looked up and forced a smile. “I just want to know what happened to him and where he is. That’s all.”

“I’m fine,” she murmured. “I just wanted to know what happened to him. Now that I have, it’s okay.” Her voice grew smaller and smaller until it faded entirely. He called out to her, but she didn’t respond again. Unable to hold back anymore, he reached over and grabbed her shoulders. “Let me see your face, okay?**

Met with her silence, he gently turned her shoulder, exerting more strength only when she didn’t resist. Her face was drenched in silent tears–falling steadily without a sound.

“Cry it out. It’s okay,” he soothed her, holding her close. “I know you’re upset, but Vance made this decision just to prevent you from being sad.”

He used to hate that man so much, but now he felt speechless.
