Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 680

Chapter 680

Rebecca’s tears soaked through Gabriel’s shirt

He kept reassuring her, telling her to let it out, but she couldn’t make a sound. Only the tears kept streaming down her face. After a long time, she finally found her voice. “I’m not sad, really. Look, I’m smiling, aren’t I?”

She struggled to get out of his embrace, pushing her hair aside to reveal her entire face. The tear–streaked grimace was even more heartbreaking than open sobbing.

Gabriel’s eyes stung. He drew her back into his arms. “You don’t have to smile for me. Cry, scream, or do whatever you need. I’m here with you.”

He held her like that until they arrived home. Rebecca had composed herself outwardly only those swollen eyes and damp hair betrayed her.

Josette was in the kitchen overseeing dinner. Kaitlyn wasn’t back yet.

“I’m going upstairs to wash my face and rest a bit,” she told Gabriel evenly.

Okay.” He nodded, trying to follow her.

She turned back to stop him. “Just out of the hospital, I need a bath, too. I’ll be fine.”

“Alright. Call me if you need anything,” he said.

Still uneasy, he stood guard outside her room. Ten minutes passed, then 20, and half an hour… There was no sound from inside.

“Becky?” He knocked, but there was no response. He grew anxious. “Becky? I’m coming in!”

The silence continued. Losing no time, he called Jessica, who burst open the door.

Rebecca was found lying on the bed, fully dressed and sleeping deeply. She wasn’t washing her face or having a bath at all.

The scene was all too familiar to Gabriel. No one could tell how long she would sleep this time.
