Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 682

Vance took a couple of steps forward, then realized Rebecca wasn't following.

He walked back and repeated, "Let's go."

Only then did Rebecca snap out of her daze and realize he was talking to her. Wiping away her tears, she followed him. She wiped her face and trailed after him.

Behind them, whispers rippled through the crowd.

"What's going on?"

"Why is Rebecca crying?"

"No idea."

"Are they close?"

"They were in the same class before. Do you think they might..."

"Nah, they barely talked."

Rebecca paid no attention to their gossip. Her eyes stayed fixed on Vance's legs. The muscles made them appear long and straight.

He led her to a small shaved-ice shop near the school gate and pointed at an empty table. "Sit."

She didn't move.

"No? I'll sit then," he said, sliding into the inner seat.

She sat down beside him, not across from him as one might expect for a conversation. He looked at her quizzically but didn't press the issue, given her emotional state.

He turned to the shop owner and ordered a cup of iced coffee. Turning to Rebecca, he asked, "Want some shaved ice?"

She didn't feel like eating anything.

That took him aback. His first instinct was to brush her hand away.

Rebecca's thought process was different; this was real. She was touching the texture of his muscles, so warm and elastic. This couldn't be a dream.

The broken Vance in Paris was the dream. The real Vance was right here, whole and breathing.

Her mind was a mess. She could no longer distinguish dreams from reality.

After he brushed her hand away, she started crying again, almost hyperventilating. With a helpless sigh, he took her hand back and placed it on his leg, lowering his voice.

"Fine, fine. Touch it if you need to. Just stop crying. Or at least tell me why you're crying."

It couldn't be because she wanted to touch his leg, could it? Since when did she develop this habit?

She still felt the sensation of his muscle—firm, warm, and pulsing with life.
