Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 708

"The history we have..." Vance's voice dropped, turning raspy and thick. "I thought you'd get it."

"What?" Rebecca gave a thin, hollow laugh. "I don't get it."

She was already 30 in her soul, so of course, she understood him perfectly. Yet in this world, she had to play dumb.

A sudden spark flared to life deep within his eyes; he had truly changed. The old him had been nonchalant toward everything, as if nothing could ignite anything in his life.

But now, she saw a temper burning in his eyes, though it flared for only a fraction of a second before dying down. He instantly locked his calm composure right back into place.

"Don't overthink it."

"I'm not overthinking anything."

His expression practically screamed disbelief. "Jenny was just demanding to know what my stance is, right? Well, my stance is..."

Rebecca tilted her head up, meeting his gaze squarely.

He shifted uncomfortably. "I'm just glad that the silly, naïve Rebecca has finally figured out how to protect herself."

Rebecca was struck entirely speechless. She had never heard him utter a single phrase so intensely sappy before, and it gave her an immediate case of full-body goosebumps.

"Silly and naïve?" It sounded so off to her ears, no matter how she thought about it.

She fired back right to his face. "You're the silly one! You're the silliest person in the whole world!"

If he weren't a total moron, how on earth could he have let Catherine manipulate him into circles like a puppet?

Having delivered her sharp retort, Rebecca spun around to walk back to the table, only to crash into Jenny right at the corner of the hallway.

Jenny had been trying to control her anger, but since Rebecca was here anyway, she didn't need to hold back anymore.

She stormed right over and started yelling at Vance. "Who are you calling silly? You're the silly one! Otherwise, would you have been scammed out of your money and tricked into a relationship by that snake? You're a pure idiot!"

Vance looked at her in absolute bewilderment. "Calling me an idiot is one thing, and I'll even let the money scam comment slide—but what on earth do you mean by being tricked into a relationship?"

"Isn't that what happened? And you haven't even realized it. If that's not peak stupidity, what is? And you have the nerve to call Rebecca silly? She beat you in that competition! Who's the stupid one here?"
