Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 712

Chapter 712

“Darren,” she muttered.

But when he tilted his head downrand offered her a warm smile, the words completely died in her throat.

She couldn’t exactly say, “Whatever you do, you can’t go backpacking around the world in the future, because you are going to die out on the road.”

“What’s wrong? Nervous about the competition? Don’t worry, you’re not doing this alone. I’m going to be right there with you.” He paused, then added, “And down the road, when we’re in college and even after we enter the workforce, I’ll still be right there by your side.”

Rebecca was stunned, wondering if that was a confession.

Under the bright morning sun, the tips of Darren’s ears turned a subtle shade of crimson. “Hey, don’t get the wrong idea! I didn’t mean it like that. What I meant is, aren’t you planning to attend Arelmoor Dance Academy?

He paused. “Well, I’m aiming to apply to universities there too. I want to do journalism. Maybe work at a local TV station or news agency. Since we’re classmates and from the same area, we’d look out for each other, right?”

He smoothly steered the conversation toward a blueprint of their future. Rebecca thought that if he really planned to live a steady, normal life, she could finally feel at ease.

“Are you really fine with a regular nine–to–five kind of life?” she asked.

This was a stark contrast to the wildly adventurous, free–spirited personality of the Darren she had known in the other timeline.

His smile grew even warmer in the sunlight. “Why not? Spending ordinary days with family and living peacefully until we’re old… that sounds like a wonderful life.”

“Darren…” She tilted her head. “Ádh mór ort!”

That was Irish. She kept her eyes locked onto his features to see if she could catch a single flicker of recognition or abnormality.

She was about to ask what was going on when Vance finally moved. He walked up to Darren and pulled the latter into a firm hug. “Of course not. We’re brothers for life. Let’s go.”

The two guys walked ahead while Jenny linked arms with Rebecca, whispering, “What’s up with them? Is Vance upset because Darren’s going to the competition with you?”

“No way,” Rebecca said quietly. “Vance isn’t that kind of person.”

No matter which version of Vance, he had always valued loyalty and friendship above all else. Even during their cold marriage in the other life, he had treated his two best friends incredibly well.

“Weird,” Jenny muttered.

Vance’s driver took all of them to the competition venue. Vance and Jenny stayed as audience members.
