Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 726

Chapter 776

Rebecca froze, blood rushing to her head. She instinctively lunged to grab the notebook, but it was too late.

Vance had already picked it up. The smile on his face froze solid the moment he read the line. His breathing grew heavy and ragged.

For a moment, Rebecca didn’t know what to say. Vance’s fingers tightened around the notebook. His gaze slowly moved from the words to her face.

“What does this mean?” His voice was hoarse, every word forced out. “Am I that repulsive to you?”

“It doesn’t mean anything,” Rebecca muttered defensively, reaching out to pull the notebook back from his grip.

Vance only clamped his fingers down tighter, the sheer intensity in his eyes bearing down of her. “Give me a straight answer. What on earth did I do to make you hate me so much?”

A volatile rage vibrated through his voice.

“You didn’t do anything,” she murmured. “It’s my issue. It has nothing to do with you.”

She meant it, not really caring about what he had been doing with Catherine behind the academic building yesterday. She had made this decision from the very first day she woke up in this world.

But Vance didn’t like that answer at all. “Your issue? Nothing to do with me?”

He seized her wrist and started dragging her away, the sheer pressure of his grip instantly causing her skin to turn white.

“What are you doing?” Jenny jumped up and rushed to block him.

But she was powerless to stop him. Like a madman, he yanked Rebecca forward and pulled her straight into his arms.

“W-What do you want?” She glanced around, looking for an escape route.

“Don’t even think about running,” he croaked, each word forced through clenched teeth. “Don’t push me to do something terrible.”

She blinked, not understanding what he meant. She glared at him but wisely clamped up under his fiery gaze.

He shut his eyes, as if trying to control himself. When he opened them again, his voice softened somewhat. “Okay. Now tell me why.”

She was confused. “What?”

He held up the notebook, showing her the line. “Is this because of Catherine? You and Jenny both think I’m protecting her?”

She paused, then answered honestly, “I don’t understand, but that’s not important…”
