Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 741

"Because we're friends!" Rebecca answered without hesitation.

Vance fell silent, then looked at her with a meaningful smile.

"What's wrong? Aren't the three of us—you, me, and Jenny—close enough that it outweighs you running around with random guys?" Rebecca picked up the drumstick from her tray and put it on his. "Good enough?"

"So, this means..." Vance pointed at the three drumsticks now on his tray.

"It means as long as there's food on my and Jenny's trays, there'll always be some for you. We'll always have your back," Rebecca said seriously. "With friends like us, you don't need to go chasing after other people, right?"

Vance paused, then laughed. "Yeah."

Rebecca's eyes widened at his easy agreement.

She had prepared a whole list of reasons to convince him. Honestly, it would have been difficult, especially since she couldn't directly judge Aiden and Lucas.

If Vance demanded proof, she would have nothing to say.

"What?" He raised an eyebrow.

Rebecca poked at the food on her tray. "You're... not even going to ask why?"

"Didn't you say we're friends?"

"Huh?"

Vance put away his smile and reached toward her hair. "Don't move."

"What?"

"There's something in your hair." His voice was low, the words seeming to roll softly in his throat. He plucked off a small white fluff and tossed it away. "Who else would I listen to if not you?"
