Fluffy Mates Chase Their Boss on Survival Show novel Chapter 380

Chapter 380 Spiked Drink

A chilling suspicion, unwelcome and heavy, settled in their minds.

Could Jacob be connected to Stella or the pirates? If true, the situation just becomes far more dangerous.

Suppressing the turmoil, Liam steadied his voice. “First, we find Layla.”

They were about to leave when Jacob himself appeared, blocking their path.

He tilted his head, genuine confusion on his face. “Where are you guys off to?”

Exchanging a guarded glance, Carson and Liam remembered Yates’ earlier comment.

A new wariness toward their friend took hold.

Jacob, sharp as ever, caught the shift in their demeanor.

His brow furrowed. “What’s going on with you two? Planning something shady-behind my back?”

Without a word, the two men moved apart, flanking him.

Liam stood to his left, Carson to his right, their eyes narrowed with scrutiny.

Jacob, never one for patience, instantly bristled. “Spit it out! What’s the deal?”

As they saw his quick, transparent anger, their suspicion wavered.

Maybe we’re wrong?

After a tense moment, Carson decided to trust his gut about Jacob.

He stepped closer, lowering his voice. “That wine you brought the other day… was it straight from the sealed cask when you got it?”

Jacob thought for a second, then shook his head. “Not exactly. We had all that rain, right? I was worried about mold, so I transferred everything I’d brewed into smaller, sealed jugs a while back. The one I brought was already prepped.”

“Pre-sealed?” Carson pressed.

“Yeah.” Jacob nodded, then his eyes widened as he caught on. “Wait… you think I spiked the wine?”

At the sight of Jacob’s face, flushed with genuine, sputtering outrage, a flicker of guilt crossed Carson’s features.

He placed a hand on Jacob’s shoulder. “We’re just trying to figure it out. Look, Liam and I can hold our liquor. So can the others. But we all got knocked on our asses after just a couple of glasses. It doesn’t add up.”

Jacob’s anger subsided, replaced by his own dawning puzzlement.

“You know… you’re right. The stuff didn’t taste that strong to me either. How’d everyone get so wasted?”

Chapter 380 Spiked Drink

Liam moved in, his voice low. “Where do you keep the jugs?”

D

“Since we’re in tents, I carved out a hollow in a big tree. Stashed them all in there,” Jacob explained, pointing j a thumb over his shoulder.

“So, you have to walk a bit to get to them?” Liam clarified.

A sudden, horrified understanding flashed in Jacob’s eyes. “Hell… you think someone tampered with them while I was gone?”

A grim nod passed between Carson and Liam.

It was the only explanation that fit.

Jacob erupted, rolling up his sleeves with the ferocity of a provoked badger.

“Fuck! When I find out who messed with my brew, I’ll skin ’em alive!”

Crafting that wine in these conditions had been a labor of love, and Carson fully understood the violation he felt.

But there was a more pressing question.

“When you grabbed the jug, was it random, or did you pick a specific one?” he asked.

Jacob waved a dismissive hand. “Random, of course! The batches were all the same ingredients, same age. Why would I pick and choose?”

If Jacob’s choice was random, then the saboteur had only one sure method: poison all the jugs.

“Take us to your stash. Now,” Carson ordered, urgency cutting through his tone.

Finally grasping the full scope of the problem, Jacob gave a nod and led them through the camp without another word.

They stopped before the thick trunk of an ancient oak.

Jacob gestured to its far side. “Back there. That’s the spot.”
