Chapter 397 Positioning Tracker
At Scarlett’s announcement of the new rule, Layla’s eyes lit up completely.
For her, this change was practically a custommade advantage.
A subtle smile touched Layla’s lips.

Most contestants found the adjustment reasonable and gave their approval. All except Stella, who stepped forward with a complaint.
“But that doesn’t seem fair. Some people just aren’t as good at surviving. What if someone gets attacked while searching for new species?”
Scarlett swept a cool glance over Stella, her tone calm yet laced with a faint, unmistakable mockery. “If you’re going to fuss over every little danger, maybe you shouldn’t have joined a survival show in the first place. You could always go home and play the delicate princess there.”
Even if the earlier remarks hadn’t been aimed at anyone in particular, the last sentence made the target perfectly clear.
Gritting her teeth, Stella glared at Scarlett, resentment flashing in her eyes.
Another person to despise in this wretched program.
Beside her, Layla gave a soft clap, drawing everyone’s attention.
“I think it’s a fine idea. We can cooperate, share resources-what’s not to like?” Layla said.
Coming from anyone else, those words might have sparked disagreement.
But this was Layla. Nobody objected, because it was obvious who would bring in the most supplies.
By speaking up, she was essentially offering to share her findings freely-a boon for the less capable participants.
Watching the others crowd around Layla, heaping praise on her, Stella could barely contain her jealousy.
Her hands clenched unconsciously, and she muttered under her breath, “Just you wait, Layla. You’ll regret this.”
“Regret what?” a voice cut in suddenly beside her.
Stella started, her expression turning strained. “Prince Oliver! What are you doing here?”

Oliver’s lips curved into a cold smile. “Why shouldn’t I be here? Is this spot reserved?”
His sarcasm was undisguised, making Stella bite her lip hard, her cheeks flushing crimson.
“Prince Oliver, I really don’t understand why you keep picking on me,” she said.
Oliver looked at her as though she’d lost her mind. “Weren’t you just cursing Layla a moment ago? How is that ‘picking on you”?”
He spoke loudly enough for others to notice.
Under the weight of their curious stares, Stella felt humiliation burn through her.
With a furious stamp of her foot, she turned and fled, wiping at her eyes.
Scarlett watched her go with an amused, faintly scornful gleam in her eyes.
Layla observed the exchange quietly, taking in every reaction.
Outwardly, she remained composed, but inwardly her interest in the new deputy director grew.
Something about her feels deliberately opposed to Stella.
With the rules explained, the contestants were free to begin.
Scarlett had brought something else along-a small object distributed to each participant.
Layla examined the necklacelike item in her hand, raising a curious brow.
Shane identified it at once. “It’s a positioning tracker. Wear this, and they can locate you anywhere, even deep in the wilderness.”
Nodding at Shane’s explanation, Scarlett addressed the group, genuine concern coloring her words, “I’ve watched the earlier episodes, and I’m not convinced the safety measures are enough.”
Each team had a Vanguard escort, but past incidents proved that wasn’t always sufficient.
This tracking necklace would serve as an extra layer of security.
Carson studied his own necklace, a flicker of surprise crossing his face.
Noticing his reaction, Layla leaned closer and whispered, “Is there something wrong with it?”
