Forgotten Wife My Ex-Husband Regrets It After I Left (Clara and Liam) novel Chapter 202

Sienna’s POV

“It seems your picnic idea was fully approved,” I said gently.

“And it also seems like it’s the perfect idea for today,” he replied, his warm smile slowly making my heartbeat quicken just a little.

I nodded, then returned to the stove. “In that case, ‘ll prepare our lunch.”

“And I’ll get the mat and Noah’s ball ready,” he said before walking out of the kitchen.

I turned off the stove after the eggs were pertectly cooked, then began transferring them to a plate. The house felt so peaceful that morning, the kind of calm I hadn’t really felt in years.

From the living room came Noah’s cheerful voice, babbling to himself while choosing which toys he wanted to bring. Sometimes he laughed, either at his own imagination or because Liam was teasing him from afar.

I slowly arranged the lunch boxes on the table: sandwiches, fruit slices, and a few small cakes I had baked the night before. My hands moved automatically, but my heart was full of a warmth I could hardly explain.

The sliding door from the front patio made a soft sound. Icould picture Liam patting the picnic mat clean, making sure there was no dust on it. I could also imagine his stight frown when Noah’s ball rolled too far.

A small smile appeared on my lips.

” Like mornings like this,” I murmured to myself without realizing it.

Suddenly Noah appeared at the kitchen doorway, his hair messy, holding two dinosaur toys in both hands. “Mommy, can I bring these? They want to see butterflies later.”

| laughed softly. “Of course, sweetheart. Put them in your bag, okay?”

He ran more like hopped back to the living room, humming happily, making the whole house feel brighter.

I closed the last lunch box and placed it inside a small cooler bag. Footsteps came from the hallway. Liam appeared carrying two big water bottles.

“All set?” he asked with a smile.

“Almost,” I said while zipping up the bag. “Did you get the mat?”

“Done,” he replied easily. “And I even found a little hat for Noah. He’s going to look like a kid ready to explore the world.”

I chuckled. “He always is.”Liam stepped closer, taking the lunch bag from the table..

Our hands almost touched and even though it was barely a second, it was enough to make me pause.

Something had changed. Something subtle but real.

“We’ll go when everyone’s ready,” he said, holding my gaze a little longer than usual. “No need to rush.”

I nodded, trying to hide the small flutter in my chest. ”

Okay.”

He smiled and walked out of the kitchen.

I took a slow breath, removed my apron, and straightened up. After making sure everything was compléte, I glanced i out the window.

“Mommy, can I blow bubbles when we get there?” he asked, leaning forward slightly.

“Of course you can,” I replied, turning to smile at him.

The drive to the large park on the edge of the city took only about half an hour, but every minute of it felt special.

Maybe because it had been so long since I felt this kind of simple togetherness being in the same car, sharing light laughter, without any weight or tension hanging over us.

From time to time, I glanced at Liam from the corner of my eye. His left hand rested on the steering wheel, while his right occasionally shifted to the gear stick with an effortless motion. He looked focused, but there was a faint smile on his face that never really disappeared.

I turned my gaze back to the window, letting the breeze slip through the slightly open glass brush against my skin. It felt freeing. I just wanted to enjoy this day where the three of us could laugh without limits.

“Mommy,” Noah’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts.”

When I grow up, can we have a picnic every week?”

I looked back at him, meeting his bright eyes filled with hope. “Every week?” I repeated with a soft laugh. “Wow, Mommy will have to cook a lot if that’s the case.”

“That’s okay,” he quickly replied. “Daddy can help!”Liam grinned wide without looking away from the road. ” Of course Daddy can help. Daddy can even learn to make the best sandwiches in the world.”

Noah burst into delighted laughter. I smiled too, and when I looked out the window again, I realized something.

Maybe happiness really is this simple sitting side by side with someone you love, heading toward a place where your child’s laughter becomes the most beautiful music in the world.
