Forgotten Wife My Ex-Husband Regrets It After I Left (Clara and Liam) novel Chapter 206

Sienna’s POV

We had just completed packing all the food into the picnic bag when the wind unexpectedly gusted colder than it had been. I glanced up at the heavens ominous clouds Loomed directly over the park, racing by as if drawing a curtain.

“Seems like it’s going to rain,” I murmured, gazing at the sky.

Liam looked up as well. “Hmm, it seems the rain is eager to, not wait until we arrive home.”

And he was correct. A big drop fell on my cheek.

Five seconds later, the rain poured so quickly it seemed as though a massive tap in the sky had been turned on.

“Wow!” I made a squeak. “Hurriedly, Noah! Hurry up, let’s go!”

Yet Noah merely chuckled. “RAIN!!!” he yelled while twirling with his arms raised, moving as if candy were falling from the sky.

“Noah, get over here!” Liam picked up the picnic bag while stifling a laugh. “We’re all getting drenched!”

However, the child was already racing in circles in the center of the field, his face turned upward as he laughed joyfully.I aimed to draw him to safety… yet upon seeing Noah’s expression smiling so genuinely, his damp hair clinging to his brow something gently pulled at my heart. It had been quite a white far too long since I’d witnessed him this joyful.

Liam glanced at me from close by, equally soaked as l was. “Are you alright?” he yelled above the noise of the downpour.

I nodded, even as my hair clung to my face. “We must find Noah! I’ll take the other bags! You receive Noah!”

I rushed over to my son, who continued to dance in the rain. The damp earth made every step feel weighty, but when I finally grasped his arm, Noah gazed up at me with bright eyes.

“Mommy, I’m having such a blast!” he chuckled.

Upon seeing his face, I found myself unable to stop smiling. “Definitely, it’s enjoyable.”

I inhaled. “However, we should return home before you get sick.”

Noah nodded, but he remained hesitant to go. Liam jogged over to us, his arms loaded with items, utterly drenched. His hair was soaked, raindrops trickling down his face.

“Over there is the car!” he shouted.

The three of us dashed through the rain, but since theground was slick, Noah lost his footing slightly. I seized him swiftly. “Watch out!”

Liam pivoted and, silently, lifted Noah with ease, one arm supporting him. Noah chuckled even more. “Dad is just like a superhero!”

could only return the smile, my heart feeling warm even – though my body was cold.

In that pouring rain, somehow… returning home with them felt like one of the most cherished moments of my Life.

The rain poured down more intensely as the car exited the park. It beat on the roof like countless fingers striking in an erratic tempo disordered, yet oddly soothing. The wipers moved swiftly, clearing the continuous flow of water on the windshield, as the streetlights shimmered on the damp surface like shattered silver.

The journey back felt unusual. More silent, yet cozier, as if an unseen presence was softly settled among the three of us, something unarticulated yet profoundly sensed.

Noah continued to sing in the backseat, his melodyslightly off-key yet charming, blending a rain song with whatever words he spontaneously created. At times, he drummed on his chair, while other times, he incorporated my name and Liam’s into his silly tune.

“Mommy in the rain. Daddy in the rain.”

I could just smile while hearing him. His voice resonated with genuine joy that, unbeknownst to him, could heal even the most profound scars.

At one moment, the vehicle reduced speed due to a big puddle. Liam leaned slightly forward, concentrating on the road. The beams from a different vehicle illuminated the defined angle of his jaw, and for an instant, I realized I was staring at him longer than I thought to have.

His wet hair at the sides, the way he held the steering wheel, the serene assurance he displayed during times like this everything felt recognizable. Excessively recognizable.
