Sienna’s POV
“Noah was the first to laugh,” he confessed. “Then he assisted. Kevin’s fine! He mentioned that falling is a part of ninja training.”
I chuckled. “Wow ninja trips often as well huh?”
“Indeed! A resilient ninja is one who continually rises!” he declared with pride.
I placed my hand gently on my chest. “Wow Mr. Noah, that’s a life philosophy.”
He. Sipped his soup. “Yeah Noah picks up a lot.”
Then he moved closer, dropping his voice as if revealing a secret. “Mommy knows Miss Rina? Noah’s math teacher?”
“Oh is that the one Mommy noticed wearing a sweater?”
“No way.” Noah vigorously shook his head. “That’s Ms. Dina. Ms. Rina always has a cat headband!”
I feigned puzzlement with a frown. “A headband, with cat ears?”
“Yesss! With ears! Two of them!” Noah tapped his head to explain the idea of cat ears. “Sometimes they’re black sometimes pink. On Fridays they’re rainbow-colored!”
I placed my hand on my chin. “Wow. That’s interesting. Why does she enjoy wearing cat headbands?”
Noah leaned in dropping his voice as though sharing a secret. “Noah believes Ms. Rina is actually a cat, in form.”
I quickly hid my mouth attempting to stifle a laugh. “A cat pretending to be human? From what planet?”
“The Meow Planet,” he answered instantly.
“The Meow Planet?” I echoed earnestly. “Is it inhabited by cats?”
“Yes! Lots of cats who excel in math!” He raised a finger to highlight his point. “That’s the reason Ms. Rina’s great at numbers!”
I gave a nod. “Makes sense. Mommy trusts you.”
He appeared content with how I trusted him.
Then without hesitating he went on “Mommy guess what?
At recess Noah ate chocolate bread. Then an ant appeared. Noah told the ant, ‘No! That’s for Noah!” He showed with his hands how he blocked the ant.
“The ant
went away. Noah is awesome right?”
“So incredible!” I agreed. “Safeguarding food is an ability.”
“Noah is a bread champion!” he exclaimed with pride patting his chest.
Moreover Noah still possessed another tale you could deduce from the moment he abruptly ceased eating andlooked at me with an intensely grave expression.
“Mommy at school today Dani wet his pants.”
I attempted to maintain an expression. “Oh? What made him wet his pants?”
Noah shrugged. “He forgot! He said his mind took astroll.”
I covered my mouth, chuckling. “Poor brain wandered off.”
“But Noah cautioned him,” he said, shaking his head worriedly. “Noah told him ‘Dani you need to tell your mind, don’t wander off while you’re still studying.”
I ran my fingers through his hair struggling to suppress both laughter and warmth. “Noah is quite intelligent.”
I grinned, recognizing that Noah grasped somethingbetter than I had assumed.
Once he had eaten the majority of his food Noah reclined in his seat clutching his abdomen.
“Mommy, this soup brings me joy.”
I rested my chin on my hand. “The soup isn’t what brings you joy. It’s sharing a meal with you.”
He looked at me for a while seemingly attempting to grasp the significance of my words then he turned red.
Noah said, “Mommy also makes me feel happy.”
That phrase closed off the void left by Liam’s absence this evening.
We completed our meal in a coziness to warm our silent house.
Noah’s chuckles resonated throughout the living room brightening spaces that seemed vacant without Liam. He was busy, with building blocks attempting to create a castle he insisted should surpass Daddy in height.
I rested on the rug clutching blocks and acting as his building aide.
“Noah is eager, for the blue one, Mommy!” he exclaimed with enthusiasm.
I found the block he was referring to and gave it to him. ”
Here you are, Mr. Architect.”He grasped the block with great confidence resembling a skilled expert constructing the globe’s most daring skyscraper. His tongue poked out slightly a quirk he had when deeply concentrated. Gently he set the block atop a tower that already appeared somewhat tilted.
“Are you certain that it won’t collapse?” I inquired, stifling a laugh.
