Forgotten Wife My Ex-Husband Regrets It After I Left (Clara and Liam) novel Chapter 268

Sienna’s POV

The trip to the library felt shorter than usual, maybe because my thoughts were still warm with what had happened at school earlier.

The scenery outside Liam’s car window moved slowly, rows of trees, small shops, traffic lights changing colors but my feelings weren’t fully there. Part of me was still left in front of the classroom, with Noah’s small hand holding Bam, hesitant yet firm.

“I didn’t expect Noah to be that brave,” I finally said, breaking the silence. My voice sounded softer than I’d intended.

Liam smiled faintly, his eyes still on the road. “Me neither.

But the way he did it he didn’t force anything. He gave me a choice.”

I nodded. “That’s what moved me. He didn’t act like he was above anyone just because he could give. He just stayed with him.”

The red light made the car stop. Liam glanced at me briefly. “You did the right thing by letting him decide for himself.”

“Honestly?” | let out a small chuckle. “I was scared. Afraid he’d feel used. Afraid he’d come home with a heavier heart.””But the opposite happened,” Liam said.”He came home lighter.”

I looked down at my hands resting on my lap. “I learned a lot from him today.”

“From our child,” Liam added, his voice calm but meaningful.

The car moved again. The steady hum of the engine felt soothing. A few seconds passed before I spoke again. “l want to go to the library today. I need quiet. To think.”

“I know,” Liam said quickly, as if he’d already expected it. “I took a half day off. We’re not in a rush.”

I turned to him, a little surprised. “Are you sure?”

“Yeah,” he replied lightly. “Besides, you’re in an important phase. I don’t want you to feel alone.”

That word alone made my chest warm and ache at the same time. “Thank you,” I said softly.

Liam smiled a little. “Where do you want to start? Looking for cover inspiration, or just reading?”

“Probably reading first,” | answered honestly. “I want to remember why I write.”

“That’s a good reason,” he said. “Sometimes we’re so busy thinking about the result that we forget the process.”

I laughed quietly. “You sound like an editor.””Don’t tell anyone,” he replied with a grin. “I might get offered a side job.”

I tilted my head, confused. “Aren’t you going to the office?

You’ve got a lot of work, right?”

Casually, he slipped his hands into his pockets. “I already took a half day off. So today, I’m keeping you company.”

I blinked. Once. Twice. “Seriously?”

“Seriously,” he replied with a small smile. “I thought you might need someone while looking for ideas. I want to be by your side.”

Something warm spread through my chest, surprise, emotion, and relief blending into one. It all felt simple, yet deeply touching.

“In that case,” I said, taking a long breath, “thank you.”

Liam just looked at me for a moment before nodding softly.

We walked into the library, moving along a long corridor toward the general collection area. The scent of paper, wood, and ink mingled gently in the air. The atmosphere was quiet, filled only with the sound of turning pages and measured footsteps.
