Forgotten Wife My Ex-Husband Regrets It After I Left (Clara and Liam) novel Chapter 279

Sienna’s POV

I slowly turned the next page, but my eyes lingered more on Noah’s face than on the pictures. His eyelids were starting to feel heavy, though he was still trying to keep them open. His fingers clutched the edge of my sleeve, a small habit that always appeared when he was about to fall asleep.

“Mommy,” he called softly, his voice growing hoarse.

“Hmm?” I replied without stopping my reading.

“if the fox is tired is he allowed to rest?”

I smiled and lowered the book slightly. “Yes. He is. In fact, he has to.”

“Why?”

“Because if he keeps forcing himself to walk, his legs will hurt,” I explained gently. “And if his legs hurt, he won’t be able to help anyone.”

Noah thought for a moment, then gave a small nod. “That means like Mommy too, right?”

I paused for a split second. “Why Mommy?”

“Because sometimes Mommy looks tired, but still smiles,” he said innocently. My chest warmed and tightened at the same time. I took his hand, holding it gently. “That’s why, from now on, Mommy will learn to rest too. Just like the fox.”

“Noah will keep you company,” he said quickly, then smiled softly.

I laughed softly. “Deal.”

I continued reading, my voice quieter than before. The story was nearing its end when the little fox finally found its way home, welcomed by the warm light of its wooden house. Noah gave a small yawn, then covered his mouth with his hand.

Do you want to keep going or stop?” I asked.

“Just a little more,” he murmured. “One more page.”

I nodded and read the last page. When I finished, I carefully closed the book and placed it on the side table next to the sofa.

“Noah,” I called softly.

“Hm?” he replied, almost whispering.

“Do you know,” I said as | gently stroked the back of his hand, “today Mommy learned something from you.”

He opened his eyes a little. “What did you learn?”

“To be braver about being kind,” I answered honestly.” And to be more honest with my own feelings.”Noah smiled faintly, his eyes closing again. “Mommy is great.”

I held back a laugh and tucked the small blanket more neatly around him. “You are too.”

As the story ended, Noah rested his head against my chest and murmured, “Mommy, can Bam come over to our house sometime?”

I smiled. “Of course he can. We can cook something together or play in the yard.”

Noah looked very happy at that. “Bam likes fried chicken.

Can Mommy make it?”

“Of course I can. For your friend, Mommy can cook even better than usual.”

He nodded contentedly, then grabbed a small pillow and hugged it. “Teacher said Noah is getting more grown-up like Daddy.”

“This is my favorite tomato soup! Daddy knows me so well!”

“Of course,” Liam said as he took off his work jacket and draped it over a chair. “Daddy always remembers what makes his child happy.”

watched him for a moment, noticing the way he moved around the house calm, natural, like someone who truly belonged here. There were times when a scene like this felt impossible. But now everything feels stable.

“This one’s for you,” Liam said, handing me a food container. “I ordered creamy mushroom pasta, just the way you like it.”

I accepted it with a small smile. “Thank you, Liam.”

He Looked back at me with those warm eyes, as if he wanted to say more than just ‘you’re welcome.’ But before I could read his expression any further, Noah called out, ” Daddy, come eat here with me!”

Liam chuckled and pulled out a chair next to Noah. I sat across from them, opening my meal. The aroma of freshlymade pasta immediately fitted the room.

“What were you two up to earlier?” Liam asked as he blew on Noah’s still-hot soup.

“Noah read a book with Mommy!” Noah answered quickly.

“And Noah told her about Bam! Teacher praised Noah!”

Liam raised an eyebrow, looking at me as if asking for confirmation.

I smiled. “Yes, Noah was amazing today.”

Liam looked at Noah with pride, then gave a small nod. “I already knew this morning he was going to be amazing.”

Noah blushed at the praise, then focused on stirring his soup with a wide smile.
