Forgotten Wife My Ex-Husband Regrets It After I Left (Clara and Liam) novel Chapter 316

Liam’s POV

I stared at her for a long moment, my jaw clenched until it ached: All the patience I had forced myself to maintain since she walked into this room finally shattered. There was no longer any reason to be polite.

“What do you actually want?” I asked coldly. My voice was low and controlled, but filled with warning. “If you came here just to mess up my life, congratulations you succeeded. Now leave.”

Emily leaned her hip against the table, completely unfazed. “You always react like this,” she said casually.” The moment someone touches your comfort zone, you put up walls.”

“Comfort zone?” I let out a short, humorless laugh. “You snuck into my hotel room, touched me without my consent, while my wife was on the phone. That’s not a comfort zone, Emily. That’s harassment.”

For a brief moment, her expression changed. Subtly.

Almost imperceptibly. But then she smiled again, colder than before.

“You’re choosing heavy words,” she said quietly. “You didn’t mind being touched back then.”

“Back then,” I emphasized. “Not now.”I stepped closer close enough to make her stop pretending to be relaxed. “I’m married. I have a family.

And I won’t let anyone including you interfere with that.”

Emily looked at me as if assessing whether I was truly serious. Maybe she was searching for a crack. Maybe she hoped I would waver like I used to.

But this time, I didn’t.

“She changed you,” she said at last. Not an accusation more like a bitter conclusion.

“I changed becaușe I chose to,” I replied firmly. “And you should respect that.”

. Silence settled between us. I could hear the ticking of the clock on the wall, the steady hum of the air conditioner.

Everything felt too clear, too real.

I pointed at the door. “Get out. Now.”

Emily followed my finger with her gaze, then looked back at my face. A flash of emotion crossed her eyes, offended, perhaps angry. But the most obvious thing was her wounded ego.

“Don’t you really want to hear my explanation?” she asked softly.

“Whatever you want to explain, it’s already too late,” I replied. “Some doors, once closed, should never be forced open again.”She straightened up, smoothing her hair with an elegant gesture. For a moment, I thought she would leave without another word. But of course, it was never that simple.

Emily stepped closer once more, stopping right in front of me. “You know,” she said tightly, as if the previous conversation had never happened, “I’ve always been able to read your body language.

I didn’t move.

“And right now,” she continued, tilting her head slightly,” you’re tense not just because you’re angry.”
