Benedict
I feel emotionally exhausted. After the worst night of my life, then hearing everything that Sloane experienced in the Moon Goddess’ realm, then watching the most powerful Alpha in the country breakdown in front of us, it’s no wonder I’m exhausted.
My mate, however, seems energized.
“It really will be okay for us to mark each other again, Benedict. I swear,” she says, squeezing my hand, before trying to get off my lap.
“Unless you’re going to the bathroom, just stay, please,” I say, breathing in her scent to remind myself that she’s here, alive and safe in my arms.
When Alpha Roman broke down, he and Luna Samara excused themselves. Bethany followed them, saying she was going to get some sleep, and after telling Sloane that she loves her and to take her time coming back today, Scarlet and Daniel left to return to their pack.
“You look exhausted, Benedict,” Sloane says, pressing her forehead against mine.
“I thought I’d lost you. I had just made you mine and I thought I’d lost you before we ever had a chance to enjoy our lives together.”
She wraps her arms around my neck. “I’m right here and I’m not going anywhere. Why don’t we get some sleep.”
“I really wanted last night to be memorable for something other than what we’ll always remember it for,” I sigh, shifting on the bed and pulling the sheets aside so we can lay down.
“Aisling and I got to meet or parents and I got to meet my Uncle Theo. Next to making you mine, that’s the best memory of my life. While I hate that you suffered, I’ll never regret that time,” she says, pulling the shirt over her head and laying down naked to face me. 2
Instantly, all thoughts of fatigue are gone.
“I really do want to see Aisling later, but right now… if you’re sure you won’t disappear on me again, I’d love nothing more than to finish what we started. Marrok agrees that our scent isn’t strong enough on you.”
She pushes me onto my back and straddles me, making me instantly hard.
“I thought you’d never ask.”
We spend the rest of the day marking each other until our wolves are satisfied that our scents are blended, mating until the desperate need for each other is temporarily sated, talking about our plans and the future of our packs, and sleeping. When we finally emerge from our bedroom, it’s nearly dinner time.
We walk downstairs hand-in-hand. I have never felt this at peace in my life. Everything feels like it’s finally the way it should be. I have my mate, the love of my life, and we have a plan to combine our packs into one.
The pack cheers when we enter the dining room, obviously having heard about everything that happened overnight. However, I’m surprised to find Alpha Roman and Luna Samara still here.
“You didn’t think we’d leave before seeing Aisling’s new fur coat, did you?” Luna Samara asks, smiling at Sloane. “Ayla wants to run with her.”
“Let’s eat first. Marrok wants to run with her too.”
‘Marrok wants to complete his bond with his mate,’ he growls to me. ‘I know, Buddy. Soon.’
After dinner, the pack follows us outside. News spread quickly about Sloane receiving her white wolf. Everyone knows what that means, although, I’m not surprised the Moon Goddess told her nothing would change. I already know what an amazing woman my mate is.
Sloane steps away and turns her back before stripping and shifting quickly.
I feel the entire pack gasp then sigh when they see her. Aisling walks up to me and I slide my fingers through her fur, feeling her body shiver at my touch.
“Beautiful, as always,” Marrok purrs.
Luna Samara steps away and quickly strips and shifts. I watch, mesmerized as the two white wolves walk to each other, rubbing their faces against each other before taking off at a run.
When both wolves howl a challenge, I glance at Alpha Roman, seeing the same grin on his face that I have on mine. Both of us leap and shift, taking off after our mates and howling the howl of the hunt.
The pack howls happily and I hear many of our pack members shifting to come run with us.
