Chapter 435
Days passed after Maggie’s message–Franklin never replied.
Instead, Isabella contacted her twice.
On Friday evening. Maggie took Isabella out for dinner and a treasure hunt game.
Afterward, when Isabella said she wanted boba tea, Maggie ordered one and was just about to hand it to her when she saw Franklin in the distance–walking straight toward them.
Maggie froze.
Franklin met her gaze and smiled faintly.
Isabella spotted him too–but her face showed no surprise, as if she’d known he would come.
She waved excitedly. “Daddy, over here!”
Franklin walked over. Isabella shook her cup at him. “Daddy, do you want some?”
He chuckled and ruffled her hair. “Daddy’s not thirsty.”
“Okay!” Isabella said cheerfully and went back to sipping her drink.
Then Franklin’s gaze returned to Maggie. “Just got off the plane.”
Maggie blinked.
She hadn’t asked.
Still, with Isabella there, she simply said, “Mm.”
She didn’t look at him, instead lowering her head toward Isabella. “Isabella, it’s getting late. Maybe we should-”
But Isabella’s attention had already been caught by something else.
“Mommy, look! Someone’s playing drums over there!”
Before Maggie could reply, the girl ran toward the sound.
The “drum show” was actually a music studio promoting its drum classes–inviting kids to come up and perform to attract students.
Several children about Isabella’s age were already taking turns on stage, drumming skillfully along to upbeat music. The crowd was growing.
Isabella, though she’d never played, found it cool and squeezed forward to watch.
Maggie hurried after her, afraid she’d get lost in the crowd.
Franklin followed at an easy pace, watching the two of them.
When Maggie reached Isabella’s side, he came to stand beside her.
Maggie noticed his presence but said nothing.
Isabella held Maggie’s hand, eyes sparkling as she watched.
Maggie, hearing the lively rhythm and seeing the confident children, couldn’t help smiling herself.
Then, suddenly, a child bumped into her.
Chapter 435
She lost her balance and was about to fall when Franklin reached out, steadying her by the waist.
Maggie exhaled in relief. “…Thanks.”
Franklin smiled but said nothing.
