Chapter 637: Keeping His Distance

Chapter 637: Keeping His Distance

Levi had no idea Maggie was connected to Quaid’s circle.

He had heard about her award, though. After seeing the posts online, he couldn’t help himself and tagged everyone in the group chat: Did you

all see this?? She’s really out here like that now??

Franklin and everyone else saw it. Nobody replied.

A moment later, Julia showed up in the chat.

She tagged Harry: Daphne has a project she’d like to discuss with you. Are you free?

Harry took a beat before responding: I’ve got time. Give her my contact info and have her reach out.

Julia: Sure.

They wrapped up and went quiet. Levi: ? Nobody’s gonna acknowledge me at all?

Meanwhile, Harry’s phone was already ringing. It was Daphne. He listened to her pitch, then said, I’m actually pretty interested in what your company’s working on. That said, I’ve got a lot on my plate right now, so I’ll probably need to have someone else on my team handle things going forward. I hope that’s not an issue, Ms. Everly.

Daphne smiled. Not at all. I have full confidence in your team, Mr. Becker.

I’m your friend. And Johnny’s. I figured even if he thought I had some kind of interest in him, he’d at least be a little warmer for your sake. I didn’t expect him to be this cold about it.

Julia wasn’t surprised. Not really.

She remembered how Daphne had acted toward Maggie at the welcome dinner. It hadn’t been subtle. Harry hadn’t been in a position to say anything then, but she knew him well enough, something like that would stick. Becoming actual friends with Daphne was probably never on the

table after that.

Daphne tilted her head, curious. Is he just trying to avoid any misunderstandings with whoever he’s into? Doesn’t want too much going on with

Maybe,Julia said.

Daphne noticed that Julia and Harry barely kept in touch normally. And even setting that aside, with Harry being Franklin’s close friend and

Julia being his brother’s girlfriend, it made sense they’d keep some distance privately. If Julia said she didn’t know, there probably wasn’t much

more to dig into.

Daphne let it go.

Ever since the thing with Felix, Isabella hadn’t had a single meal out with both Maggie and Franklin together.

These days she was either at the Miller estate or over at the Wilsons keeping Franklin and Old Mrs. Wilson company, but somewhere along the way, she’d started missing those easy, casual dinners the three of them used to have.
