Mr. CEO Your Wife Has Wanted a Divorce for a Long Time (by Zora Pradeep) novel Chapter 491

**Freedom 491**

That night, sleep eluded Maggie like a fleeting shadow. The sterile scent of the hospital mingled with her anxiety, wrapping around her like a heavy blanket. She remained in the dimly lit room, her heart heavy with worry, managing to drift off for a mere hour as dawn’s light began to creep through the window.

As she splashed cold water on her face, the chill snapped her back to reality. Emerging from the bathroom, she was greeted by the sight of Franklin and Isabella waiting for her. Their presence felt like a warm light piercing through her fog of uncertainty.

Franklin spoke first, his voice steady yet soft. “Isabella wanted to come see you.”

He stepped into the ward, placing a neatly arranged breakfast box on the small round table that overlooked the balcony. His gaze shifted to the bed where Old Mrs. Miller lay, her fragile form connected to a ventilator, the rhythmic sound of the machine a constant reminder of her struggle. “Still not awake?” he inquired, a hint of concern lacing his tone.

Maggie shook her head slowly, the weight of the moment settling heavily in her chest.

Franklin chose not to press further; he understood the unspoken pain that hung in the air. With Isabella needing to return to school, their visit was brief, and soon they departed, leaving Maggie alone once more with her thoughts.

Later that evening, after the school day had ended, they returned. The unexpected frequency of their visits caught Maggie off guard. Isabella’s eagerness to come made sense, but Franklin’s presence was a surprise.

As she watched Isabella cling to her, the child’s wide, trusting eyes brimming with concern for her great-grandmother, Maggie felt a surge of emotion. The bond between them was palpable, a thread woven with love and worry.

But…

Turning her gaze toward Franklin, she expressed her concern gently, “Isabella is still so young. It might not be healthy for her to keep coming to the hospital like this. She needs to focus on her studies and enjoy her childhood. Can we please pay more attention to that?”

Franklin nodded, his expression serious. “Alright, I understand.”

That night, Helen decided to stay at the hospital to keep the old lady company, while Maggie returned home, her heart heavy with the uncertainty of the days ahead. The following morning, she arrived at the hospital, her mind racing with thoughts of her family. As soon as she stepped out of the car, she unexpectedly bumped into Sophia, Janice, and Old Mrs. Lin. Their surprised expressions felt like a spotlight on her as she brushed past them, ignoring their stares and heading upstairs with the food she had brought.

Upon reaching the ward, she found Grace and the other specialists deep in conversation, just finishing their review of the latest examination results. Maggie felt a flicker of hope as she listened, her heart racing with anticipation for any good news.

After their discussion wrapped up, she turned to head back toward the ward, only to find Franklin and Isabella had returned once again.
