Maggie had no idea what was happening on Julia’s side.
Her mood had been good lately. Old Mrs. Miller’s condition had been improving day by day, and she was now almost fully recovered.
However, the decision period for her and Franklin’s divorce was already more than halfway over. And Franklin had still not returned from his
business trip.
A few days ago, Isabella told her that Franklin was still extremely busy and still could not confirm when he would be able to return to the
United States.
As each day passed and the time left in their decision window dwindled, Maggie hesitated for a moment and finally sent Franklin a message.
“When are you coming back?”
After sending it, she did not receive a reply until the next day.
“Not anytime soon.”
Maggie frowned and typed again.
“Can you make it back before the decision period ends?”
Franklin responded, “Sorry, I am not sure.”
Maggie rubbed her forehead and did not reply.
After a while, Franklin must have sensed her anger and sent another message.
“Are you upset?”
Maggie did not answer.
She looked at her phone for a few seconds, then began typing again.
“We are both busy. At this rate, we will not know when we can finalize this divorce. If the decision period ends and you still cannot return, I will
file for divorce in court.”
It took Franklin a long time to reply.
“This is indeed my fault. If I cannot make it back in time, can we wait until I return and discuss the divorce again before making a final
decision?”
Maggie read his message but did not respond.
Seeing that she no longer replied, Franklin did not send another message.
If possible, Maggie certainly still hoped he would return before the deadline.
But reality proved her hope was wasted.
On the final day of the decision period, Franklin still did not return.
Seeing the deadline pass, Maggie put down her phone and continued working.
Old Mrs. Wilson was coming to the Miller family for dinner that night, so after finishing a few things, Maggie left work early and went home.
When she arrived, Old Mrs. Wilson and Isabella were already there.
When Old Mrs. Wilson saw her, she smiled. “Maggie, you are back?”
Maggie smiled, nodded, and gently touched Isabella’s hair as the child ran into her arms. She then sat down beside Old Mrs. Wilson and Old
Mrs. Miller.
Everyone in the Miller family took Maggie’s divorce matter very seriously.
They knew today was the final day of her and Franklin’s decision period. They all wanted to ask how things were going, but with Isabella and Old Mrs. Wilson present, they could not speak up so abruptly.
