Chapter 590

Then he turned to Maggie. What about you? Didn’t you say you’ve been seeing him pretty regularly lately? Have you heard anything?

Maggie shook her head. Nope.

She and Franklin did run into each other pretty often, but outside of business, they barely exchanged two words.

Johnny said, That’s weird

He couldn’t make sense of it, but he didn’t get much time to keep thinking about it either, because someone else came over to chat them up.

Not far away. Sophia was watching people fawn all over Maggie, and it was making her blood boil. She leaned over and hissed under her breath, Didn’t we say we were going to get her and Johnny locked in for good? When are we actually doing something about it?

Tracy said, Grandma and the others said tonight’s not the right time or place. They’re waiting for the next opportunity.

She was just as impatient, honestly. But she also knew that no matter how badly you wanted something like this done, you had to be careful. It had to be clean, nothing left behind to trace back to them.

Maggie’s work moved along steadily.

Over the next few days, she and Franklin met up twice more, but it was all business, nothing else.

After watching Franklin and Maggie work together a few times in that completely professional, nononsense way they had, Glen had pretty much stopped hinking about whatever personal history existed between them. And it was the same with him and Franklin. As many times as they’d all been in the same room now, nobody had brought up a single personal thing. Strictly business, every time.

Before long, March 8th rolled around.

Maggie had been buried in work lately, and that morning she slept in a little.

When she finally came downstairs, her aunt Helen greeted her with a big smile. Maggie, you’re up! Someone sent flowers over for you to celebrate the holiday.

put them on the little coffee table. Go take a look!

Maggie blinked.

She’d expected maybe one bouquet. But when she got downstairs, there were three.

Two of them had cards with names on them, so she knew right away those were from Glen and Jimmy.

The third one, though, had a holiday greeting and nothing else. No name.

Her cousin Xavier was practically buzzing with curiosity. Someone who knows our home address but won’t sign their name. who is that? Seriously, you really have no idea?

Maggie shook her head.

Like Xavier said, she’d never given Glen or Jimmy her current address. And yet they’d managed to get flowers delivered right to the Miller house. Which meant they’d gone out of their way to find it.

Whoever sent the third bouquet had probably done the same.

Xavier studied her for a moment, then leaned in and asked quietly. Do you think it could be you know, Isabella’s dad

Maggie paused, then shook her head right away. No, It’s not him.

Xavier wasn’t so sure. She’d noticed Franklin acting land of different around Maggie lately, and honestly the odds that those flowers were from him seemed pretty decent to her. She was just about to say something when the sound of a car pulling up came from outside and then Isabella came bursuing through the

loor holding a bouquet. Mommy, happy holiday!

Anggie was about to respond when she saw Franklin walk in right behind her.
